Get to know me...and about the formation of this course..
Hi. I am Gopi the designer and maker of ArtsvilleHandcrafted and your instructor for this course.
My journey for Jewelry making started in my late teens where I created hundreds of earrings for friends and family. My desire to make more elegant, intricate and delicate designs led me to wire wrapping. I am now focused on the ' Wire Wrapping Style' Jewelry. I sell my unique jewelry, design and create custom jewelry pieces, teach and continue to learn the art of wire wrapping!!
I started teaching in order to guide the beginners in the simplest way towards creating complicated and intricate pieces of jewelry. Step by step learning has always been my aim. I enjoy building the foundation which helps students create their own magic!! This was my focus while formulating this course. You start with a single wire..and step by step with each project reach a level where you can create fairly intricate designs for yourself.
I hope you will enjoy learning and developing your skills with this course. The course is completely detailed but feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I will really appreciate your feedback and review of this course.
Let's start learning ...

We will learn about different materials, shapes, gauges and tempers. Working with the right wire is most important to get desirable results. Learn to select the right wire for the particular function in this lecture.
In this lecture I will share some of my favorite tools with all of you and why I choose to use them. Tools needed for wire wrapping are very basic. With your hands and a few pliers we can create beautiful projects!! I have kept the tools to the minimal and simplest in this course.
In this lecture we will learn about the Stones and Beads. There are endless varieties available!! Before starting we will look at some of the common terms used to describe components of wire wrapping. I will be using these terms to describe a component or a process frequently in the course.
Before diving into the projects practice these techniques. These tips will help you develop good habits in terms of handling your wires and tools. It will lead to a higher level of craftsmanship in the end!! Keep your focus on the details. The practice is what will take your pieces to perfection. The wire should move smoothly and naturally through your fingers..there should be no kinks or mistakes while working. These tips and techniques will help you achieve this.
Curves and shapes create the overall form and then the weaving is what makes the designs unique and interesting!! This is a basic foundation for wire wrapping. Frames and then the design of the piece revolves around these curves and shapes. So it is important to form smooth curves and perfect shapes. We will practice the techniques used to achieve best results. Once a curve or a shape is created adjust the form till your satisfaction. Practice till it becomes a second nature with your hand movements.
In this section we are practicing formation of curves and shapes. We will use 18 gauge round wire for our practice pieces ad the projects. We will use various stones and beads too. Basic and main tools for this section are your hands!! we will also use a few pliers and other basic tools. Refer the Article file to get a detailed list.
Hands are the best and most important tool for wire wrapping. All hands move wire differently thus creating unique jewelry every time. The best way to create flowing free form shapes is using hands!!
