Begin your winning badminton journey as the instructor shares tips and skills, with student demonstrations to cover a lot of content and set expectations for the course.
Victor and Hanson demonstrate a proper badminton warm up, starting with running, strides, shuffling, and lunges, then relaxed rallies to gradually increase intensity and momentum.
Practice reactive badminton footwork through signal-based drills, using light cues, hand signals, or numbered calls, and a shadow trainer to improve reaction time with varied directions and repetition.
Develop badminton footwork by keeping toes forward, maintaining front balance, and using split steps with shuffles. Alternate attacking movements with turns and defense, always returning to the middle for recovery.
Master the badminton serve by building a solid foundation with proper grip, wrist-driven motion, and balanced stances for both double and single serves, including flick serves for power and placement.
Develop net shot technique using inside drop and slice drop from the center, with a relaxed shoulder and racket head tilted down toward the base for crosscourt or straight placements.
Master dropshot technique by using wrist and forearm, keeping the shoulder relaxed and timing precise. Apply crosscourt and inside-out slicing dropshots to corner targets with minimal shoulder effort.
Learn the badminton smash technique, including vertical jumps and the ready position, to convert fast, high, or flat shuttles into powerful, well-timed hits.
Master the backhand by timing the contact point, using a decisive shuffle step, and wrist-sideways power, while keeping your eyes on the shuttle for a strong, straight-line hit.
Master singles and doubles defense by mastering split-step body position, front and back inside stance, and crosscourt defense through deflecting with small, firm wrist movements for secure returns and recovery.
Master attacking doubles rotation by coordinating front and back coverage, deciding when to rotate, and communicating with your partner during drills to cover behind and at the net.
