Do you know that Greeks brought viticulture to Ukraine more than 2,5 thousand years ago? And then it became the part of Ukrainian life. This story does not compare to French or Italian wine history but Ukraine knows about winemaking since its birth. USSR almost destroyed Ukrainian winemaking culture. Nevertheless our winemakers have done lots of work to rebirth this type of ancient practice.
Ukraine lies between the 45th parallel to the south and the 52nd to the north. This is important thing that helps to grow wine grapes and make some wine. There is not all the territory suits for grape-growing. This situation is typical for the southern and western parts of Ukraine. Howbeit some winemakers do it even in the northern parts of our country. And we think it`s beautiful!
You can find different varieties in Ukraine. Most of all are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir etc. Surprise! Surprise! We have got even autochthons. Some of them do not grow on other countries. So it`s our precious for sure. What should you know else? Listen to this lesson!
