Windows Subsystem for Linux for Web Developers and Pentester
Requirements
- To do the course you will need a computer with Windows 10 Home/Pro/Enterprise/Education version 2004 or later (Windows 10 build 18917 or higher) . The update to this version is free and generally available from May 2020.
- Some experience with the Windows and Linux command line is useful, but not a must. Still if you want to learn this and WSL at all, it will be a good kickstart, just do not expect the course to cover everything.
Description

Content and Overview
This course focuses on the Windows Subsystem for Linux. It is not a high expert Windows, Linux or command line course, although you will get to know various commands, which you can immediately try out yourself. First you will setup your own computer with the Windows Subsystem for Linux and the useful Windows Terminal application. Then I will show you how to download, install and manage different distributions via the Windows Store and PowerShell - and the most important thing, how to interact with these distributions. The course is fully hands-on, so that you can do everything yourself as well. After finishing this course, you will be able to use the WSL and its distributions in your work immediately, whether you do system administration, web development, penetration testing or any other related work.
Who this course is for:
- This course is especially meant for people who work with both Windows and Linux regularly, e.g. Windows and Linux admins, web developers and pentester. The best is if you already work with both operating systems alternately and are tired of that laborious handling of dual boot or virtual machines.
- Even if you are not into web development or pentesting, but you work with both Windows and Linux regularly, it still makes sense to take this course because the Windows Subsystem for Linux makes your life much easier.
