How to get the most from this course and start working as a pro wedding MC
Hi there. This is Pete Miller the creator of the WEDDING MC Masterclass AKA the Event Host Masterclass for Wedding MCs.
I have designed this course with the end in mind. In other words, I really, really want you to finish and start working on stage as an organised and entertaining wedding MC.
There is a huge demand for trained Event Host MCs - and you will be the next.
To successfully finish will require you to improve not just your skill level, but your personal level as well.
You’re about to make upgrades to your life and improvements to your personality - and that’s always uncomfortable at the start. It may feel weird. And that's OK.
A public speaking course like this one is very different from studying to cook or to draw.
Learning to be a great public speaker is a course in self-development. It takes courage - and I respect that.
Prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and physically to make the change that's required.
By doing so, you will make it to the end; and I guarantee the effort will be well worth the reward.
MCing a wedding reception is pure joy. To get paid for this honour and privilege seems too good to be true.
Think about how you will feel when you finish. You should feel a lot more confident then when you started.
These techniques will give you that confidence. And confidence builds more confidence.
Take a moment now to visualise yourself confidently on stage with the microphone in your hand at a wedding reception after successfully finishing this masterclass.
You will feel alive and happy. Smiling. You can hear the buzz and from the audience.
Keep this image in your mind, add in the elation (alive and happy) and think of it often. Particularly when you are drifting off to sleep at night.
It will rocket boost your development and help you progress through each lesson rapidly.
Put inspirational photos on your wall and repeat affirmations like
‘Im ready to be the wedding MC’
Ask a buddy (not your family members) or another MC to hold you accountable, go public by posting your goal on Facebook, contribute to the discussions inside the SpeakersCoach school; there are many ways to cement your success.
But just know that if you dont block the time, if you don’t visualise and accept the change happening inside you, and believe that you can do it - then you are better off asking for a refund now.
Be honest with yourself. I know what it feels like to get enthusiastic about an opportunity like this - only to start but find yourself too busy to continue. Bummer.
I'm serious. It's better to stop now than start and give up. If that happens, it will reinforce a pattern of failure and makes it doubly hard to start next time.
I’m saying this to you now because I wish someone had said it to me - as I look at all the printed manuals and DVDs stacked up on my bookshelf - and some that have never been opened.
However, this online 24-7 wedding MC video course is different than a bunch of books. It has a much higher completion rate than the traditional home-study courses because its available 24 hours 7 days a week.
You can watch the vids any where, any time on any device.
Every film is sub-titled so the message gets burned into your psyche. And you can follow along with the PDF workbook that contains some amazing original photos from my own wedding MC jobs.
And as a final motivational message - once you finish the whole, you are entitled to apply to join the International MC Directory.
Then it becomes a wonderful side-hustle. Working as a wedding MC on the week-end is possibly the best part-time job in the world.
See you on stage.
MC Pete Miller

Your research about the couple at the Interview will play a part in personalising your MC performance.
Even if you are not a family friend and you have just met the couple recently, the rest of the crowd will treat you as one of them. Another why it's beautiful job.
Besides getting to know the bride and groom, the Interview is the time to clarify details like parking and getting fed.
Sell your experience and knowledge of how to run a successful live event by marketing yourself as a wedding planner included in your MC services.
I believe part of the wedding MCs job description includes training the guests on how to speak in public.
It's not about the money honey - however, it's extra sweet to get paid to have so much fun.

Your performance begins many hours before you bounce on stage. Warm up you voice so it's resonate and commanding using the 5 EASY STEPS TO A FANTASTIC VOICE available at speakerscoach.com
A high-quality shirt monogrammed with your MC brand logo makes a brilliant first impression.
A strong MC business with continuous bookings is based first impressions and the relationships you have established in the course of your work. Make that good first impression stick with a slick business card.
Being an entertainer is all about you make the guests feel, and that starts by recognising your own feelings and then expressing them.
The Microphone is the MCs best friend or worst enemy. I love my microphone and it loves me back.
A builder has 100s of different tools to get his job done. An MC has one. The Microphone. So make sure you are not just an apprentice or amateur at using it; become a master craftsman with this very useful tool.

Drinks outdoors before the event begins is a terrific opportunity for the MC to mingle.
The third section is called Personalisation and it's a necessary part of a great wedding MC performance. A lot of it can be done on the day with information form the guests.
One of the MCs best sources of insider information is the Bridal Party and attendants
Always use your own camera for the MC + Newlyweds photo
The MC becomes a motivational speaker as they rev up the bridal party before their big entrance.
Your MC energy should be at a premium level before the bridal party entrance. This is where the rubber hits the road.
My Father said to me "You can do anything with confidence Pete. Without confidence, you are lost; you'll find it hard to do anything well" I have found that he was correct. Therefore, make sure your confidence is in positive territory. If it's not, then fake it till you make it.
Let the show begin
A photograph of you with your clients is a really nice touch and immortalises the memory of each MC job.
But more importantly, the image of you with the smiling bride and groom is an essential marketing tool to promote your Event Host MC service and to display in your profile.
The photo with the newlyweds is so important its best to organise it BEFORE the wedding reception begins; usually in the room where you will meet to go through the final details. The background is not important.
Give your phone or camera to a relaxed member of the bridal party.
Gently position the bride in the middle, with yourself holding your microphone on one side and the groom on the other.
Get four or five close-up shots. Check them, and repeat the procedure if blurred.

Here is an example of how to Introduce the Bridal Party. The film shows exactly what to do if your style is interactive. As you will see, I get very involved right from the start and use my body a lot to express the joy I'm feeling.
This video has notched up 170K views. It's popular because it's real and unedited. I just set up my old camera on a tripod and recorded my normal Intro. I used the crop tool to come in closer to the action to make it easier to see what I'm doing - but there are no cuts in the timeline.
some entertainers love by the credo to never work with animals and children. There's a good reason why.
I always read the bride and grooms name from my notes when I'm introducing them because I once got it wrong and it wasn't pretty.
Grace aka A Thanksgiving Prayer is said by all the guests standing up before eating - but timing this can be tricky.
The bride and groom look to their MC as a saviour.
I've encouraged to explore the funny outrageous side of your personality (we all have it). Use this ideal opportunity to do it.
Its little things like getting the guest book signed by everyone, that makes the difference between an MC that gets referrals for other jobs and one that doesn't.
"Table Shots" is the wedding industry parlance for getting the whole table of guests to stand up and form a group photo with the bride and groom.
The temptation to indulge in the fun of the event just like the guests is always there; but the line is never crossed.

I love it when the audience plays Games at a wedding reception. The laughs are genuine and are created by the audience members themselves often doing silly things.
A wedding doesn't need games to be a success. But there are some crowds were games will make a difference between a normal wedding and a reception that is talked about for years.
The cake cutting procedure is a chance to make the couple feel like celebrities.
The MCs segue skill is on call during the transition from the cake cutting to the first dance.
Even though it may look straight ahead, there's a lot to organise behind the scenes for the garter toss to go well.
The end of the vent needs the MCs persuasion skills to be effective.
Imagine I am shaking your hand right now because you deserve a huge “Congratulations”.
This course is intense; there are over 20 years and thousands of hours of expertise poured into every minute.
You have done well to make it to the end - its a significant achievement and you deserve a Certificate of Completion.
Even though you are always learning, you can feel confident that everything you have just learned in this course is enough to succeed as a professional wedding Event Host.
Even though you know the information up here, the real test is in your heart. You must believe in yourself. Believe deep down inside that you have a very special talent to make events zing, and make people happy as their Event Host MC.
Under-confidence leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy that you are not good enough for this work and that you might not have what it takes. Eliminate these negative feelings as soon as they start. And they will be there; especially when the MC job doesn’t go and well as it should’ve. Remember that discipline destroys doubt.
Your job is to remove any fear and instead, replace it with enthusiasm. Continually visualise yourself on stage with a microphone in your hand and the audience loving your presentation style. Keep repeating to yourself day and night “I'm ready to be the wedding MC” 2x
And if you still have any lingering doubts, then go back and watch the videos again, and again. They have been carefully designed to build technique that also builds rock-solid rock-star confidence.
By all means, coach yourself by recording yourself on video - but if you do need help or mentoring, I'm only an email away. You’ll find me at speakerscoach.com
Finally, for selfish reasons I need you to be good, really good so I can grow the MC Directory into the worlds largest collection of first-class Event Hosts.
Completing this course instantly qualifies you to apply for membership to the MC Directory. So stay in touch and let me know of your triumphs.
Now go out and make a major difference to the success of a very important day in the lives of many people.
I am so excited to see what spontaneity and skills you will bring to your events.
This is Pete Miller. We’ll see you on stage; more often. Bye for now.

The thing I love about live streaming is the unpredictability of it.
Like MCing a live event, you never quite know what the result will be.
And, like a great live event that takes off in an unknown direction but delivers stunning results, this MC Live Stream did not disappoint.
Great to get an update of what is currently vogue with the wedding MC performance post-pandemic and a look into the future of wedding emceeing.
