The introduction lays out the course structure.
Students can jump directly to the activities and exercises using materials they have on hand, or they can learn more about materials in order to gather the equipment that will best meet their needs.
Using whatever materials you already have on hand, let's start getting used to splashing water around and allowing the paint to travel across the page.
After completing this unit, students understand how paint interacts with and travels where the water is.
Students are cautioned on the risks of watercolour paints and other materials used in this course.
In this activity use a simple repeated triangle shape to further explore how to apply paint to the paper. Students are challenged to create their own unique patterns.
Post your images by clicking Q&A tab under the video and creating a new Question. Then you can add your responses, questions and images using the Summary and Details sections.
This is a hands on activity using a more complex shape to further develop brush control. The end product is used to make a greeting card.
Hands on activity to demonstrate the use of masking fluid to preserve the white of the page. Other optional techniques such as watercolour pencil crayons and toothbrush splatter are also incorporated.
WARNING: the technique using the Mr Clean Magic eraser requires adult supervision and is optional.

Students are shown sample collages of circles filled with techniques from earlier sections. They are then tested on their recall of the techniques and encouraged to build collages of their own.
Majestic Mountains is a layered project made of graded washes which are a wet on wet technique.
Students learn how to create crisp edges while allowing the paint to flow through the water.
This project uses one colour and reinforces the art term "Value", how light or dark something is.
Samples of how the Majestic Mountains project can be adapted by adding further detail and colour are displayed and discussed. Students are challenged to create their own variations on the project.
This section demonstrates common mistakes and different ways to fix them.
The colour theory will describe primary, secondary, and tertiary colours and demonstrate the construction of a colour wheel.
Students will learn about complementary and analogous colours and how the use of them will make colours pop or neutralize colours in their work.
They will be introduced to warm and cool colours and how they can be used to help create the illusion of distance.
Students are introduced to colour triads. **Optional additional challenge: after viewing this section, try painting a simple scene with one colour triad, then paint the exact same scene using a different colour triad. Share your findings!
