Description

Understand the importance of the colour wheel, including warm and cool colours, as well as complimentary colours.

Learn how to lay out the colour wheel correctly, and be able to identify the position of colours on the wheel.

Learn how to mix colours, experiment with colour mixing, and keep a record of the experimentation in the form of swatches.

Look at how watercolour brushes should be utilised and the effects that can be achieved.

I will show various watercolour techniques that will help add the results to your final paintings. The techniques will consist of washes, wet in wet; dry brush; splatter; droplets; sponge effects; brush rolling techniques; paper towelling usage etc.

Look at how to paint trees, in the far distance, the middle foreground and in the immediate foreground.

Trying using simple shapes to enable more elaborate shapes to be drawn more accurately.

I will show you how to paint shadows utilising complimentary colours.

We will look at the fundamentals of perspective, and how to incorporate it into your final paintings.

Follow me in the preparation sketch for the final project painting, a copy of which will be provided in the downloads.

Complete the final painting following me in the processes, with explanations as to why the choices were made.

The downloads will include all of the course material including copies of all paintings ; sketches; and effects to help you on your way !
