    Learn to paint this Wren while you are guided step by step through a range of watercolour techniques. These will include how to work with detailed layers to create realism within your paintings.     Well here we go, lets paint a Wren! Yes these are such lovely birds with amazing singing voices so a great bird to paint!

    In this first part of the video I will show you the early stages for applying the body washes, if you remember the 'foundation' of the painting. We will paint the eye and start on the beak as well.

    Including the white we will be using no more than nine colours for the entire painting, this way we keep things simple and less complicated.
    So lets start this little Wren together and get that paint onto the paper!

    Here are the colours and materials I would recommend:
    Colours:
    Lemon yellow,
    raw sienna,
    burnt sienna,
    burnt umber,
    French ultramarine,
    alizarin crimson,
    scarlet lake
    lamp black.
    watercolour opaque white.

    Brushes,
    sizes 00, 2 & 5
    Paper: Bockingford NOT cold pressed, medium texture, A4 (210mm x 297mm or 8.27” x 11.69”).
