  • Section 5 - Intro to Fundamental Analysis25:05

    ABOUT THIS LESSON:

    This is my favorite section in the entire course because this is information is how we find GOLD!!!

    The numbers in a company's financial reports are there for a reason. This information tells us if this is a solid, fundamentally sound business that is growing in the right direction or if this is a potential sinking ship. As an investor in the stock market, this information is our most valuable tool. By knowing what to look for in a solid business that you may potentially invest in, you eliminate so much risk.

    This will also help you to invest with absolute confidence and eliminate the biggest killer to portfolio returns...EMOTIONS. Once you know what a solid business looks like, you will invest by using facts, not emotions. And this will put so many odds of having successful investments in your favor.

    Here's what we cover:

    * What is Fundamental Analysis

    * Earnings, EPS, and Growth Rates

    * Price to Earnings

    * Cash Flow

    * Debt

    * Net Profit Margins

    * Return on Equity

    * Return on Assets

    * Return on Capital

    * Sales/Revenue

    * Company Specific News

  • Knowledge Check - Intro to Fundamental Analysis
  • Section 6 - How to Value a Stock28:39

    ABOUT THIS LESSON:

    In this section, you are going to learn a very simple, yet extremely effective way to figure out what a stock SHOULD be worth.

    As Value Investors, we never pay full price for anything, especially stocks that we may invest in.  After this section, you will know, with a high degree of accuracy, what the intrinsic value of a company is.  Once you know this information, you will know when to buy, and that is when it is trading at a discount to fair value, aka, it's on sale.  You will know when not to buy and that is when a stock is fairly priced (remember...we only buy when the stock is on sale).  This could be a good time to put a stock on your watch list.  You will also be able to identify the right times to sell, and that is when the stock is overvalued, aka, it's trading for more than it is worth.

    Here's what we cover:

    * Intro to Valuations

    * Valuation Method #1

  • Knowledge Check - How to Value a Stock
  • Section 7 - Mutual Funds vs Exchange Traded Funds38:29

    ABOUT THIS LESSON:

    So far we have spent a good amount of time discussing the topic of individual stocks.  However, some of you may not have any interest investing directly into individual stocks, but would prefer a diversified, passive style of investing instead.

    Passive investing means you are handing over the day to day management of the assets to the professional fund managers, while the investor still gets to participate in the market.

    As Warren Buffett says: If you don't have the time, knowledge, or desire to invest directly into individual stocks, then your best bet would be to invest into a passive fund, such as an Index Fund.

    There are a few ways that investors can invest in a passive investment strategy.  The two most common are Mutual Funds and Exchange Traded Funds, also known as ETF's.  In this section, we are going to cover these two in detail including the pros and cons of each, the fees that you need to be aware of BEFORE investing into either type of fund, and a full side by side comparison of each strategy.

    Here's what we cover:

    * Mutual Funds

    * Fund Fees

    * Exchange Traded Funds

  • Knowledge Check - Mutual Funds vs. Exchange Traded Funds
  • Section 8 - Intro to Technical Analysis34:58

    ABOUT THIS LESSON:

    Technical Analysis is very important for two reasons: First, it helps us get into a long-term position when we know that an uptrend has started. Our goal is to invest in great businesses...at GREAT prices. Often times, a great company will only be at a great price because it is temporarily out of favor. This means it has dropped in price due to selling. We don't want to get in too early if the stock is dropping, so we use many of the indicators taught in this section to tell us when the selling has ended, and when it is safe to buy the stock.

    The second reason we use technical analysis is to help us find the trend on our short-term trades, where to place the trade, and when to exit a trade.

    Here's what we cover:

    * What is Technical Analysis

    * Trends for Short-Term Trading

    * Higher Highs/Higher Lows

    * Lower Highs/Lower Lows

    * Moving Average

    * Stochastics

    * Relative Strength Index

    * W%R

    * MACD

    * Arrows

    * Support/Resistance

  • Knowledge Check - Intro to Technical Analysis
  • Section 9 - Portfolio Management28:21

    ABOUT THIS LESSON:

    You now have the tools to start buying stocks and investing with absolute confidence in your research. Now it's time to properly build and manage your portfolio.

    Here's what we cover:

    * Creating a Portfolio

    * Risk and Position Size

    * Managing a Portfolio

  • Knowledge Check - Portfolio Management
  • Section 10 - Preparing for Your Investing Journey31:16
