Description

VMware is a company that develops virtualization software, which allows for the creation of virtual machines (VMs) that run on a single physical server. Virtualization technology enables multiple operating systems and applications to run on the same hardware, reducing IT costs and increasing efficiency and agility.

One of VMware's flagship products is vSphere, which is an enterprise workload engine that optimizes data center performance and management. vSphere consists of several components, such as ESXi, a hypervisor that provides the virtualization layer; vCenter Server, a centralized management platform; and vSAN, a software-defined storage solution.

vSphere offers several benefits for traditional and next-generation applications, such as:

- Improved infrastructure utilization and capacity planning with intelligent operations management and analytics

- Enhanced workload performance and security with Data Processing Units (DPUs) that offload networking and security functions from the CPUs

- Accelerated innovation for DevOps with self-service access to infrastructure resources and support for containers and VMs on a unified platform

- Support for advanced AI/ML workloads with high-performance GPUs, NVLink and NVSwitch technology

vSphere is available in different editions and subscription plans to suit different business needs and budgets. vSphere can also be integrated with other VMware solutions, such as VMware Cloud Foundation, to deliver a full-stack hybrid cloud infrastructure.
