In this first lesson, you'll get an overview of what this course is all about. I’ll introduce myself, share my background in e-commerce and big data, and explain how this course will help you think differently about Google Looker Studio.
This is not a traditional dashboard course — it’s a creative journey into building interactive infographics that bring your data to life. I’ll also walk you through what to expect in the upcoming lessons and encourage you to stay engaged and curious. Let’s get started!
In this lesson, we kick off the course by exploring a dynamic infographic dashboard created with Google Looker Studio.
You’ll see how we can transform data into an engaging, interactive visual experience.
The dashboard includes user-selectable elements such as gender and age filters, giving viewers control over the information they want to explore. This example will give you a clear idea of the creative potential behind the techniques we’ll cover in the course.
It’s not just about charts — it’s about telling a story with your data in a way that’s visually compelling and user-friendly. Get ready to reimagine what a data dashboard can be!
In this lesson, we begin building our infographic dashboard from scratch.
You'll see how to connect data from a Google Form, explore the types of responses, and start formatting the layout in Google Looker Studio.
We adjust the report size to better fit our design goals and add a custom background image to give our dashboard a unique and polished look. This foundational setup will prepare you for the more dynamic elements we’ll create in the upcoming lessons.
In this lesson, we complete the visual formatting of our dashboard to give it a clean, polished look.
Then, we create the first result cards using the survey data — displaying the percentage of male and female respondents. You’ll learn how to design and configure these cards to make key insights immediately visible to users.
This is a crucial step in turning raw data into clear, interactive visual information.
In this lesson, we take interactivity to the next level by displaying a different image depending on the percentage of male or female respondents. You’ll learn how to use a single-row data table to control which image appears based on the survey results.
This technique adds a visual layer of storytelling to your dashboard and helps make your data more engaging and responsive to user input.
In this lesson, we add a dynamic text element that changes based on the number of male and female responses in the survey. We also create two interactive buttons that allow users to filter the dashboard by gender — one for male respondents and one for female respondents.
This enhances the user experience and allows for focused, personalized data exploration.
In this class, we’ll build a data table that highlights the age group with the most responses.
We’ll add two dimensions: a visual icon that represents the most frequent age range, and a dynamic text explaining which group leads in responses.
This makes our infographic more engaging and easier to interpret.
In this class, we create a data table that pairs each age range with a representative image. Then, we build an interactive horizontal bar chart to display the distribution across all age groups.
The chart includes filtering functionality, allowing users to explore the data dynamically.
A perfect mix of visuals and interactivity for a compelling age analysis.
In this class, we enhance our Google Looker Studio dashboard by adding two key elements that help us understand why students chose this course.
First, we create a data table with one dimension and one metric to clearly display the reasons behind students' decisions. Then, we visualize that same information in a pie chart, making it easier to grasp the distribution at a glance.
A simple yet powerful way to add meaningful insights to your reports.
See you inside!
In this class, you’ll create a single-row results table that highlights the main reason students choose to learn Looker Studio, along with its percentage. You’ll also add a fixed text element to your dashboard to provide context and enhance clarity. A great way to start building meaningful, focused insights!
In this class, you’ll learn how to create a ranked table in Looker Studio that displays the main reasons why students are taking a course. We'll sort the responses from most to least frequent, use progress bars to visually represent the numbers, and display the percentage values for each. To top it off, we'll add a background image to give your table a polished, eye-catching look.
In this class, we’ll create a calculated field for each response option in the survey.
To do that, we’ll combine the CONTAINS_TEXT function with the IF function — a powerful duo that will let us detect and classify each answer.
These calculated fields will serve as the foundation for the charts we’ll add to the dashboard.
Once all the individual fields are ready, we’ll create one final calculated field to sum up the total number of responses submitted by participants.
In this class, you’ll add a community visualization called “Lighthouse Gauge.”
This circular chart lets you instantly see how much a specific response represents in relation to the total — perfect for showing proportions in a clean, visual way.
It’s a super handy tool to make your dashboards more intuitive and engaging.
In this class, we complete all the circular charts and percentages for each subject. We put everything together, present the charts, and review them step by step.
In this class, we create a calculated field for each subject chosen by respondents in the form. We count every selection, then build a total responses field to calculate the percentage representation of each subject.
In this class, we used scorecards to divide the number of responses for each subject by the total responses, giving us a percentage. We then applied the progress visualization in scorecards, hiding the metric to create a clean progress bar for each subject. Finally, we downloaded logo images and added them to the report.
In this class, we add a final title to the infographic and review each of its sections. Step by step, we go through everything built during the course as a complete recap.
