In this lesson, we will learn the three high tones including the no tone, rising tone and tilde tone. I will present the idea, the underlying principles of how to produce each tone and how to change the pitch when we say the words containing these tones.
We will continue learning about the three low tones including the falling tone, question tone and dot tone. We will look at how to regconise these tones in written form, how to produce the sound of each tone. You could pause the video and repeat after me to maximise the benefit of this part.

This lecture presents the 29 letters of Vietnamese alphabet. Learners will be able to tell the difference between English and Vietnamese alphabets; to say the name and pronounce each letter in the Vietnamese alphabet. In particular, learners will understand how to produce the sound of the 11 monophthongs or vowels in Vietnamese; the distinction among "a" "ă" "â" "u" "ư" "o" "ô" "ơ" "i" "ê" "e", which many students having difficulties in understanding what are the differences among these vowels.
In this part, we will practice the Vietnamese Alphabet, you will listen then try to regconise the sound of each letter.

Wellcome to the first stepping stone in learning Vietnamese language. In the next one hour, we will focus on Vietnamese Tones and alphabet.
The course aims to help learners understand the underlying principles of Vietnamese tones and alphabet. You will able to produce and distinguish the six tones of Vietnamese language, including: không dấu, dấu huyền, dấu sắc, dấu hỏi, dấu ngã, dấu nặng. The lesson also enable you: (i) mastering the basic materials of Vietnamese language; (ii) comparing Vietnamese and English alphabet; (iii) efficiently producing the 11 vowels of Vietnamese; (iv) and practicing the Vietnamese alphabet in a very interactive way.
The instructor has an old-style teaching however the course is designed in an interactive way to encourage you practicing along and memorising the letters and the sounds at the same time. There are examples, detailed explanations an exercises at the end of each part to help you get along with the lessons.
At the end of the course, you will be able to recognise the differences of the 6 Vietnamese tones and how to produce these 6 tones. You will also able to differentiate the six tones and the symbols of letters.
