Create a single customizable Instagram reel template in DaVinci Resolve you can tweak to generate many versions for film promotion or personal projects, optimized for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Pinterest.
Choose and add footage, apply color transparencies, and insert text to create hundreds of reels from one customizable template. Use the provided sample project and learn to import footage.
Create a new project and label it, then download the sample footage from the project resources and right-click to import it into the media pool.
Set up a vertical timeline in DaVinci to match Instagram reel specs 1080 by 1920, and enable scale entire image to fit for mobile viewing.
Add and stack horizontal footage into an Instagram reel while preserving framing. Drag clips to the timeline, set in and out points, and adjust zoom and position for each layer.
Stack three clips in the timeline, trim later, and apply 12-frame freeze frames to each clip to create a six-second reel with added text and color.
Add color mattes to freeze frames by dragging solid color generators onto blank timeline tracks, then adjust color, opacity, and cropping for clean, vibrant Instagram reels.
Add text elements with the random DaVinci text effect, tweaking font, color, size, and position; duplicate elements to save formatting and sync timing with the playhead.
Trim the reel to a six-second end, then align every element to the end card with a call to action, using the timeline, playhead, and left/right arrows for precise edits.
Consolidate cluttered timelines by creating a compound clip, then treat multiple elements as a single editable clip, enabling easy color changes, timeline switching, and seamless transitions.
Learn to create an end card and smooth transitions in Da Vinci by adding a solid color layer, overlaying a text call-to-action, and applying a noise dissolve with timing tweaks.
Duplicate your final reel to create multiple variations by adjusting fonts, text, clips, and color; copy attributes, decompose in place, replace clips, and apply freeze frames to extend the sequence.
Learn to customize reels by editing text and color mattes, using the inspector and playhead to adjust color, size, and placement, and reuse a template for multiple variations.
Create a new compound clip to build your end card and transition, then copy, paste, and snap elements for a clean, brand-consistent Instagram reel.
Isolate each reel on the timeline with in and out points, then export the selected vertical 1080 by 1920 mp4 using DaVinci Resolve and add to render queue.
Learn how to enable airdrop on Mac and iPhone to share your video for Instagram Reels, with non-Mac options like gdrive airdrop, third-party software, and cloud-based services.
Airdropping footage from your laptop to your iPhone transfers reels to the photo album, preparing for uploads with music and hashtag tips.
Learn to import and assemble an Instagram reel, then add music by searching for a track, selecting a segment, and reviewing changes before posting.
Select the best moment or upload a custom cover to display on your profile grid, then adjust and center the cover photo for a polished reel preview.
Add custom text and relevant hashtags to attract the right audience, drive website visits with a promo code for matcha, tag related accounts, and see link in bio.
