Ancient Greek doctors used magnetized metal rings to relieve pain in the joints of the hands. More recently, during World War II, the Russians made extensive use of the pain-relieving effects of magnets, especially against the pain left by the phantom limb after amputation.
The use of magnetic fields has grown in recent decades and its scope is wide. Studies on this subject have shown efficacy on muscle and joint pain.
WHAT IS MAGNETOTHERAPY?
Magnetotherapy is a form of physiotherapy that uses electromagnetic energy, stimulating the regeneration of tissues. Magnetotherapy fits into the field of physiotherapy using low-frequency, low-intensity magnetic fields; uses an electrically induced magnetic field that travels through a coil (solenoid).
Magnetotherapy exerts an action that favors tissue repair processes and stimulates natural organic defenses.
