Instructor
Hello! My name is Cecilia, and I’m so excited to meet you here on uDemy. I am passionate about creativity and the arts. I think the arts help kids think strategically and out of the box. I also feel that the arts can help express oneself, if guided. Since 2015 I have been working with parents, teachers and other adults working with kids how to use story telling cards to create fantastic stories.
As a parent you know there is no play book to follow. Parents and adults working with kids learn through others. Seeing what others are doing and knowing what works and doesn't.
This course is based from what I do with my child to actively engage her creativity through writing. Working with her, she found something she was passionate about and wanted to write about. At 8 years old, she published a book of her poems and writings about saving the ocean. And now at 10 she is working on her second book of poems.
In my professional life I teach statistics at a university. However, with all of the left-brain activity I work with I need a right-brain outlet. For me, I create welded sculpture and write children’s stories. I think this is why I am so passionate about artistic endeavors especially for young people. Our kids need more exposure to the art world.
When I am not teaching or welding, I love to travel, read and weld. I am a naturally curious person and love to continue learning new things where ever I go. Expressing myself creatively and experiencing new cultures is a joy for me and my daughter.
Cheers and welcome!
Cecilia
