Description
This course is designed to build a strong foundation in the art and craft of speech writing, helping learners understand what makes a speech impactful, relevant, and memorable. We begin by exploring the fundamental meaning of a speech and how speech writing differs significantly from other forms of written communication. A speech is not just about delivering information—it’s about connecting with your audience, inspiring action, and making a message resonate long after it’s delivered.
Speech writing is rightly called an art—it involves structuring ideas, aligning tone with the audience, and crafting messages that inform, influence, or entertain. Through this course, students will learn the various steps in the speech writing process, starting from identifying the purpose and audience to planning the content, writing, revising, and practicing delivery. We emphasize the importance of keeping the speech concise, using simple and persuasive language, and avoiding unnecessarily complicated sentences.
The course also guides students on how to start a speech powerfully, build a logical and engaging body, and end with a strong, thought-provoking conclusion. Special focus will be given to using statistics, expert opinions, and real-life examples effectively, while making judicious use of repetition and quotes.
Finally, the course offers hands-on instruction on writing a speech on important topics like Mental Health, helping learners apply what they’ve learned to real-world contexts. By the end, students will be equipped to write structured, purposeful, and audience-focused speeches with confidence.
