This course has five segments:
What it is: By knowing what Generative AI is, we can understand its limitations and opportunities
The Science: Why AI will stay, why it will be everywhere and how it uses persuasive techniques
The Impact: How AI will impact the world of change and leadership, the good, the bad and the ugly
Messy Play: Learn by doing, we have some great exercises for you and we introduce the SPARK method of creating prompts.
Afterparty: We continue the conversation, digging deep into the need to be human to be authentic, how AI can help spot and mitigate biases, create early warning indicators of capacity issues, and so much more.
It helps to understand what 'Generative AI' is, and the different elements.
We will introduce the concept of a Large Language Model (LLM), demystify how it has been taught to do what it does, what it can do and the limitations
In this lesson we unpick the behavioural science used by Chat GPT to make it easy for us to use it.
We look at how our brains work and explore arange of cognitive biases including: IKEA, Endowment, Choice Overload, with examples.
Generative AI has adopted many of the tactics that humans are persuaded by.
In this lesson we look deeper into how it creates a sense of ownership, an emotional connection, becomes your friend and more.
Before you go, check out the resources for a link to how Disney uses fallibility to create humanity in their cartoons and robots.
Let us look deeper at the good, the bad and the ugly parts of AI.
Why it will help us as change agents and leaders, how it will make things harder, and how it will fundamentally change what we do.
Is it perfect, No, but is it good enough, Yes!
How AI can help you, as a change agent.
Find out what AI thinks it can help you with, and five use cases that we think will make a big difference to how, and what we do.
We also talk about the Ethics of using AI in our practice.
In this lesson we refer to our Ultimate Change Capability Matrix, which we built with the help of AI. A link is in the resources tab.
Getting the most out of AI means learning how to ask the right questions or prompts.
Poor prompts get poor results.
We introduce the SPARK structure for writing prompts:
S: Set the stage: Define the Role you want the AI to play
P: Provide Perspective: Give context to what you are looking for
A: Assign the Challenge: Give the task
R: Refine Impartiality: Get the right balance
K: Keep the format: What does good look like.
In the lesson, we mentioned Steve Allman, and his posts about roles in charities and how they compare to cookies. The link to this post is in the resources.
A short introduction to our exercises, and what we will cover
If you haven't already signed up to ChatGPT, use this link to get your free account.
*** If you do not want to sign up, no worries, we show the results on in the videos too.
In this exercise, we start the process of asking ChatGPT to teach us about the importance of trust and safety in change, then ask for the results to be shared in different formats.
The prompt we used in our Teach Me exercise for you to copy and paste into ChatGPT
In this exercise we ask ChatGPT to be our leadership coach, and to advise us.
The prompt we used in our Help me Discover exercise for you to copy and paste into ChatGPT
This exercise shows you how to build a development plan, that may have many sections, yet to share them one by one.
The prompt we used in our Develop Me exercise for you to copy and paste into ChatGPT
The Why? Why? Why? technique is a powerful way of grounding your change in why it is important. Use ChatGPT to really get to the deep root cause with this prompt.

Sensemaking is essential for any change agent and leader. Whether it is the sentiment for the change itself, the conviction of your leaders, the readiness, or the legacy that history has left.
This is a great example of how you can create a conversational assessment, with rewarding feedback, using ChatGPT to give a deeper understanding.
The prompt we used in our Sentiment Analysis exercise for you to copy and paste into ChatGPT
One of the powerful applications of the Large Language Model that sits behind ChatGPT is to assess rich text for sentiment and themes.
In this example, we use the power of the model to theme the sentiment that we have been given.

Play with our custom knowledge base, loaded with Irrational Change insights and fronted by Pirate Pete. This gives you a sense of what is achievable through accessing your own data.
We wrap up our exercises with some reflections of what you have learned.
We summarize the learnings from this mini masterclass to Unlock the Power of AI for Change.
Imagine listening into the conversation between expert change agents sharing their insights, hopes and fears for how Generative AI may impact our field.
This 'afterparty' segment is both thought provoking and inspiring and will leave you thinking deeply about how and what you do in your own change, or leadership practice.

We bridge the gap between Generative AI technology and behavior change, inspiring you to tackle your change challenges from a different perspective.
Our thinking is grounded in behavioural science; why humans do what they do.
Say goodbye to conventional problem-solving and hello to a new era of strategic, human-centric change-making, using AI as an enabling tool.
What will you learn?
Explore the foundations of AI, why and how it does what it does, and its dynamic applications.

Discover the good, the bad, and the ugly, why it will become addictive, and the ethics of using AI in Change.
Learn how to create your own prompts, using our SPARK formula, and practice them in a safe space.
Practice, using real-world exercises and ChatGPT prompts that demonstrate AI's capability in creating behaviour change, including issue identification, sentiment analysis (resistance, history, leadership), change coaching, mental model reframing and capability building through a dynamic learning plan, and custom knowledge base.
Confidence to experiment with Generative AI in your change practice.
How will you develop these skills?
By a mixture of discovery and doing. We use our distinctive mix of theory and hands-on exercises, which simulate real scenarios, to help you learn and give you the confidence to use AI in your own practice. We provide you with prompts that you can use immediately within your own practice.
Bonus
If that wasn't enough, we have included a conversation among change experts discussing the impact of AI in our field.
Including:
How the need to be human will be more important than ever
The ability for AI to make things easy will make it addictive, it isn't going away
How AI can help spot historic and current biases, and has a role to play in removing them and creating environments that encourage inclusion
At the moment AI gets you 80% there, it will get better, based on what it knows. To 'beat the bot' we need to be adaptable, and one step ahead, differentiating what we do.
Actions speak louder than words. However slick a bot is at writing words, a leader's actions will always count for more.
Bad actors; those who intend to do harm, not bad 'actors' in a play, will create distrust in communications.
The power of AI to interpret sentiment could be a game changer at spotting warning signs of poor capacity or burnout before they happen.
Leading virtually will require visible authenticity and humanity.
See you in class!
