Understanding Gender-Based Violence

We fight for each person's right to live a life of safety, dignity, and belongingness by catalysing people's power and building just institutions.

The course "Understanding Gender-Based Violence" is designed as a comprehensive exploration of gender-based violence, intersectionality, gender stereotypes, and gender roles, aiming to provide participants with a nuanced understanding of these concepts. Not only will participants explore the multifaceted meaning of gender-based violence but also understand the root causes for it as well as look into some of the misconceptions around the same.

Through this journey, participants will be introduced to key Indian laws central to gender-based violence in India, laying the groundwork for them to critically engage with the gendered nature of law and identify the various challenges that survivors face while accessing justice. Finally, the course will contextualise gender-based violence in everyday life and facilitate the participant on how they can provide support to survivors of gender-based violence in their own circles.

Through interactive learning and discussions, participants will cultivate practical skills and insights to become agents of positive change in promoting equality and inclusivity for survivors of gender-based violence.
