Welcome to the course! My name is Chris Bumbalough and I have been in student ministry for over 15 years. I have served at 3 different churches and watched these principles I am about to share with you, work at each location. Each and every time.
This program flows out of 15 years of experience. All my wins and failures have been compressed into five weeks and tailored towards small churches. If you will take notes, do the homework, and actually put these into practice; you will learn how to meet the greatest needs of your students, how to create a program worth coming to, how to build a dream team to serve with, and how to structure for success. There is more too, but enough talk. Let's get it.
The environment is the key starting point. We must remove any obstacle that hinders students from coming to Jesus. Grace must ooze out of every inch of our ministry to transform the lives of teens.
True connection is what every teenager needs and longs for. Social media and technology are false connections that will leave them empty. Watch this module to learn how to offer them the real deal. This is incarnational ministry.
Burnout is a common obstacle that we all face in ministry. Our passion often exceeds our physical ability. If we go too hard, too fast, for too long; then we will burnout. When burnout occurs everyone loses. You lose, the kids lose, the team loses, the parents lose, the church loses. In this lesson learn how to pace yourself and accept the truth that self-care isn't selfish.
This is my story about how Burnout actually left me paralyzed. I spent 8 days in the hospital wondering if I would ever hold my wife again, play with my son again, or work again. That was a very sobering time for me. I pray it can inspire you to be cautious with burnout.
A common obstacle to creating a thriving student ministry and facilitating the connection the kids need is Volunteer Commitment. This video will help guide you on how to navigate that tricky subject.
A dynamic student service that keeps kids coming doesn't just happen by accident. It takes intentionality and planning. It is hugely important that we embrace both structure and organic ministry. We all lean more one way or the other, but to thrive we must learn to do both. This week will walk you through some concrete steps to take your meeting further faster. If you will implement these ideas the impact will be huge. I have seen it work over and over again. Be blessed.
The atmosphere is key in student ministry. Many will decide if they want to return within the first 7 seconds. That is not a lot of time to make a first impression. Do your best!
Every student wants to know that their time is well spent. Is there a purpose to me coming to Student ministry? Yes, yes there is.
Games and Laughter are two crucial ingredients to having a ministry that kids want to come to. It is a love language that they all understand and without these two elements, many will not keep coming. But you can leverage these to share the love of Jesus and change lives.
In this video, I will share with you a teaching style that works and radically changed my ministry. This video alone is a gamechanger.
Practical steps are key in teaching to change lives. Knowledge alone isn't enough, there must be an application of that knowledge.
Andy Stanley says it like this,
"Information + Application= Transformation.
Here is some homework for you to work on this week. Do the work and reap the benefits!
Step four is all about the students understanding that you are FOR THEM. It's not that you want something FROM THEM. There is a huge difference. They want to be loved, accepted and shown how to grow in the faith and as a human being. What better way to show them that you care for them than helping them succeed in life?
Here are some ideas on ways to help students grow and succeed in life. These go further than just spiritual quiet times. I believe these will give you some great ideas and insights.
Even more ideas to help equip your students to succeed in life!
Fun and laughter are gifts from God. He created them. We should not be ashamed of them! Here are some thoughts on how to include these in your ministry. Without Fun- kids will stop coming. Period. (That goes the same for most adults as well).
A lone ranger is a dead ranger. You must build a team...so why not build a dream team? Here's how I do it.
This is a five-week course for building a thriving student ministry at a smaller church. This is for those new to student ministry, part-time, volunteer, or bi-vocational student pastors. This will equip those who never had the opportunity to go to bible college or seminary. This is not theory. This is my experience from over 15 years of working in the trenches with students. I promise this course will sharpen your tools and help you love students better. If you are not satisfied, then I'll give you a full refund. That's how much I believe in it.
I will walk you through the five steps to create a healthy student ministry:
1. Creating an Authentic Grace-Filled Environment
2. Facilitating Real Connection
3. Creating a Service that's Worth Coming to.
4. Equipping Students for Success.
5. Building a Dream Team.
I don't believe a healthy ministry can be built without all of these pieces functioning. The ultimate goal is to help students walk with Jesus. These are the milestone on the pathway to get them there. Follow the path and see what God does through you.
If you are ready to learn, grow, and see student's lives changed then jump on in! The water's nice. If you have any questions or need anything just message me. I am excited to walk this journey with you. Be blessed today.
*P.S. If you enjoy this course, I'd love to hear from you. Leave me a review and message me what subjects you wish I had covered and I will include them in my course. Thanks and Be blessed today!
