Begin your ultimate beginner ballet journey with a moderate, beginner-friendly introduction focused on barre-based technique, staying flexible with rewatches and using stable supports as needed.
Master the basics of the plie barre by practicing demi plies and grand plie, align your arms, and move through first, second, fourth, and fifth positions with hip-driven turnout.
Stretch the tendu in first position with constant floor contact, then four tendus en croix (front, side, back, side) and a final sous-sous balance.
Practice four degages en croix, then two, into a single degage en croix with balance, lifting foot at the end like a tendu, engaging inner thighs and hamstrings on close.
Learn two fondus en croix from first position, melting and extending through a low plie, lifting from the knee in coupe and retiré while keeping the chest lifted.
Explore rond de jambe, circle of the legs in half circles with energy through the toes, from first position at the barre, combining plie, tendu, degage, and en l’air.
Execute fondu barre drills by melting and extending from the first position, maintaining a coupe and lifted chest, then en croix front, side, back, side.
Perform battements at the barre, lifting and closing the leg. Use hip flexors and inner thigh strength, maintain port de bras in high fifth and dégagé-inspired élanger to the back.
Finish the ultimate beginner ballet course with a heartfelt end-of-class reflection, invite feedback and reviews, and preview the next session focused away from the bar.
This is a Ballet course for the ultimate beginner or seasoned dancer looking to get back to the basics! In this Ultimate Beginner Ballet Course we will be focusing on Ballet barre basics while learning proper placement of the body and Ballet terminology. If you are someone looking to start ballet for the first time this course is a great place to start. Together we will break down each Barre exersize step-by-step and then turn on the music and dance like no one is watching! The elements of a basic barre that we will be working through in this course consist of the correct positioning of the feet and arms, Plie, Tendu, Degage, Frappe, Rond de Jambe, Fondu and Battement. As we become better dancers together I actively encourage taking this course as many times as you need to really understand and feel comfortable with the movement we are doing, along with that feel more than free to pause the video at any time and take this course at a pace that you feel comfortable with. A mantra I would like us to practice for this course is that practice makes purpose not perfect. I can't wait to help you find your inner Ballet dancer!
