Practice rapid sketching to plan complex vfx sequences, testing anticipation, climax, and dissipation with textures, particles, and shockwaves before building in Unreal Engine.
Open the Unreal project VFXGuide_AoE from the zip to preview an AoE attack scene, and use the SpawnVFX and AreaOfEffect blueprints to cycle effects and spawn at the fire point.
Create a Niagara emitter in local space to place effects precisely on the ground, using mesh scale and a plane mesh with an additive beam material.
Create a fiery 2048 by 2048 texture in Photoshop or Krita using brush, smudge, and eraser to form flames, then export as PNG for Unreal.
Create a Niagara system for an area-of-effect attack and rename emitters for clarity. Animate the ground beam and cylinder with size and rotation to build anticipation, using an impact delay.
Create a distortion and dissolve material in Unreal Engine using time-driven distortion speeds, texture coordinates, and a lerp with a dissolve texture controlled by dynamic parameters in Niagara.
Learn to colorize Unreal Engine VFX by creating color01 and color02, applying ranged linear colors to particles and beams, and tuning alpha and dissolve for smooth transitions.

Develop game projectiles in Unreal Engine by building Niagara emitters and systems, wiring GAP_Projectile blueprint with muzzle, hit, and muzzle VFX, plus camera shake and local simulation.
Create a capsule projectile mesh in Blender, unwrap UVs, and export as an FBX for Unreal; adjust rotation for proper facing in the Niagara system and plan a texture.
Explore creating and refining particle effects in Unreal Engine by configuring a particle emitter, color ranges, lifetimes, and wind and vortex forces, plus scene integration and material adjustments.
