Explore a practical framework for combat-based martial arts designed for martial artists and security professionals, plug in what you know, and tackle what-if scenarios across punches and weapons.
The fence is a nonverbal boundary that starts in a conversation stance and transitions to a fighting stance, using a triangle hand guard, 3–4 inch spacing, and controlled footwork.
Master the step and drag footwork from a left or right lead. Keep balance and power with a step and glide, ball of the foot, and not neutral lateral moves.
Perform walk-through footwork from a fighting stance, moving forward and back while staying down. Switch feet to gain distance, landing on the heel and then the ball of the foot.
The level flow drill isolates standing, kneeling, sitting, and lying positions, teaching a single left-lead framework with frames to protect ribs, head, and torso during transitions.
Frame one targets defending against a wide punch with a frame that absorbs impact and twists the attacker’s hand, enabling counter offense and a potential stop.
From the fence and conversation stance, frame one diagonally exposes the jaw and enables rear direct and lead direct attacks on offense.
Master internal hammer techniques from frame one, switching between rear and lead hammers, resetting between reps, and striking from either left or right with counterweight from the fence.
Review hammer angles: external, descending, ascending, internal, and direct, using two straight punches to set up the hammer series. Maintain baseline rhythm, move around, and vary inserts to provoke reaction.
Learn the cowboy clinch and plum defense, optimize head position, one hand inside one outside, hip movement, angle changes, and knee attacks to control the clinch from sport to street.
Explore headbutts as an inside fighting technique in close quarters, using forehand drives and clinch control to deliver devastating head contact for defense and countering punches.
Master three headbutt applications for no rules MMA: from frame to temple headbutt, front shield to drive back, and grab to collapse the arm.
Explore defending and entering through frame concepts, using frame one to control the attack and enter from inside positions with elbow strikes and precise footwork.
Learn to defend straight punches using a fence, perform a mirrored parry to neutralize attacks, and execute a top-down, elbow-driven entry to the clinch—kill the lead with precise entries.
Master the hammer entrance to back control as you execute internal hammer X and external hammer to open up the side of the body, then secure back control and takedown.
Frame to back and head and arm clinch techniques teach you to close distance, gain back control, and set up a naked choke with gable grips.
Frame and control the head to execute a head-push takedown, then drive the opponent down with knees and framing to open strikes or a submission.
Master lead control by breaking the jab-cross with sharp footwork, parrying to close distance, then enter with elbows and a headbutt cover, finishing with a club and grip transition.
Develop takedown skills through kesa nage and ogoshi drills, applying TRITAC Combatives System concepts for no-rules MMA with weapons.
Master elbow clears from frame one and attack angles, using lead and rear elbows to drop opponent's face. Practice descending and ascending elbow motions from rear, left, and right sides.
Perform elbow clears six to ten by extending, stepping, and driving weight behind the elbow, alternating right and left angles while maintaining internal and external control.
Develop a head-reference escape from guard by elevating the hips with a shelf foot, delivering a groin kick, attacking the Achilles, and sweeping to stand and regain position.
Demonstrates side control escape #2 in jiu-jitsu, focusing on creating space, turning, and getting underneath.
Execute a side control wave escape by hip-driven movement, arm pressure, and belt grips to break pressure, sweep the opponent, and transition to the back for control.
Mount escape #1 demonstrates escaping a mount through bridging and a shrimp-like shimmy, using elbow frames, knee in, and a gable grip to roll and regain control.
Master mount escape techniques from jiu-jitsu, block a choke, secure grips, and roll over the shoulder to reverse the mount.
Learn takedown defense through sprawl drill, using a block between you and the opponent, push the head down, and drop weight to stop a shot.
Learn arm bar escape #1 by turning into an elbow-to-the-ground scramble and moving the leg over the head to break the grip. Use momentum and a thumb push to free the arm.
Transition from a defensive guard to attacks using the scissor guard, grips, and hip control. Use the knee push sweep to move into mount.
Drive in with weight and movement to break grips. Respond to grab energy, pull or push or neutral, by using a jujitsu approach across front, side, and back grips.
Defend a two-handed grab and headbutt with a diagonal drop, body turn, and grip release, then counter with controlled assaults to disrupt the attacker and escape.
Master rear 1-hand grab defense by maintaining the grip, turning the frame, breaking the grip, and exiting from outside to inside positions, while managing elbow risk.
Learn a front bear hug defense using ear slap and eye gouge techniques to create space and set up strikes through cupping hands and thumbs to the eyes.
Escape a rear bear hug and transition to ippon seoi nage by shrugging to free the grip, stepping back, and throwing over the shoulder to control risk.
Respond to a rear choke by quickly changing your level, getting under the attacker's hips, and driving a leg to flip them over while keeping your hands in for defense.
Learn wrist grab defense using openings and knee or groin strikes to disrupt posture. Escape double or single wrist grabs and close distance to strike with elbows.
Learn front shielding from inside positions, using a frame to block, headbutt, and add hits, with footwork to step out, bail, or switch to other frames.
Master footwork and pivot techniques for rear shielding and turning, using frame steps, level changes, and arm positioning to control angles while protecting the face.
Learn blade handling with the lead hand and integrate a gun, then apply framing, blocking, and turning to protect vital areas while keeping offensive options.
Learn weapon-handling principles for knife and impact weapons, emphasizing firm, straight-wrist grips, proper fence, and hammer drill footwork to maintain control when escalation occurs.
Learn stick defense against blunt weapons with jam entries, Osoto Gari setups, elbow strikes, and off-balance controls, including arm-break variations and ground finishes to incapacitate an attacker safely.
Learn stick attacks and internal strikes, focusing on mechanics over weapon, mastering fighting stances, footwork, and three internal hammer strike types.
Explore stick attacks through an all strikes drill, moving from neutral to left and right steps, practicing internal and external hammer with a stick, and developing creative control.
Focus on smashing elbows in close-quarters combat, intercepting a rear haymaker, pushing the shoulder back, then a wing elbow, internal hammer, and diagonal buffer.
Learn flow 4 ear grab headbutt to defend against haymakers, enter the clinch, and unleash a headbutt to the jaw and shoulder in close-quarters.
Learn flow 7 triple wing elbows in no rules mma with weapons, mastering straight and round punches, timing, and hand control to disrupt an opponent's structure.
Shows a flow of leg and face strikes in close-quarters, countering a rear haymaker with an internal hammer, shoulder load, elbow finish, and an over-the-top strike.
Flow 15 focuses on killing the lead and executing throws in combat grappling, integrating elbow strikes, a headbutt and pinch headlock to secure control and finish with a knee-on-belly position.
Explore flow 25 in combat grappling, detailing a head-push entrance, knee strikes, a kimura, chokes, and escapes from ground and back attacks.
Demonstrates takedown defense and kimura transitions in combat grappling, using a sprawl, head push, framing, shrimp, and knee cross to take the opponent down and secure the kimura.
TRITAC COMBATIVES - FRAMEWORK FOR COMBAT SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Confidence in martial arts isn't earned by throwing the best high kick or just grappling on the ground. True confidence is built from knowing that you have the ability to fight and win when the 'shit that hits the fan'.
Whether you're a LEO and the stop just goes wrong, or when driving home some dude just takes it too far... the ability to defend yourself and fight is vital to your survival.
TRITAC is NOT a martial arts style.
It is a framework of concepts, movements, techniques, and flows (drills) that give the student the ability to focus on specific gaps in their fighting game, or explore enhance existing combat skills.
We relate TRITAC to MMA with no rules, against multiple opponents, and where the use of a weapon, improvised or concealed, is a strong possibility.
TRITAC is designed for the individual.
Combat is in our nature. It's part of being a human. As individuals, we all have our own natural expression of combat, our instincts. The way you fight, won't be exactly the same way I fight. We may share similar techniques that we may use in combat, but no two humans think, react, move the same.
A true fighting system is a play-book that is expressed by the individual
When thinking about no-rules, survival-based combat, the only thing we can do is train to be prepared for any situation, any attack, and to remove 'holes' in our fighting game.
One style does not have the answer. A style is an idea, a concept that you can use to fight. It should never be a rule-book for fighting, only a concept that might for you.
