Welcome. Here's little overview video for this course and a Hello to you from Star the Tooth Gem Fairy.
Why do you want to be a Tooth Gem Tech?
Having a strong intention for wanting to do this can help in many situations and keep you grounded no matter what comes your way.
Be aware that there are Costs to set up your kit & create a workspace
Even a small basic kit will cost you money. This little video talks a bit about it.
Attached as a resource here will be a list of what i believe should be in a basic kit and also other things that are great to have yet will cost money.
A little talk about the importance of having a mindset & taking actions that keeps you working in a very clean and sanitary way
Please read my disclaimer
which is attached here as a resource downloadable file.
It's important to know that I am sharing from my own personal experiences of doing tooth gems since 2009 & that I am not a dental professional.
It's important to use tooth gems that are safe to be in one's mouth: to avoid toxins getting into someone's body like heavy metals and also to be sure the gems will stay sparkly and pretty.
It's best to order tooth gems from a reputable tooth gem supply company to be sure they are high quality, dental quality and free of heavy metals such as lead and nickel. Ideally choose one that has been in business for many years. Such as: Twinkles in Sweden, Smilegems in the UK & Tooth Kandy in the USA
Please don't use nail gems or gems for crafting even if they are or say they are swarovski. Avoid cheap "too good to be true" gems. It's important they are safe to have in the body and your clients trust you that they are.
you will need 1-2 pair of new gloves for each client
Alcohol spray, disinfectant spray, dental chemical sterilants jar (safe disposal)
Disposable Dental bibs are perfect for each clients work space. It's important that you have a clean sanitary surface to work from for each client.
You will need tweezers to pick up tooth gems and place them on the tooth. I use diamond tweezers. I would imagine one can find tweezers meant to pick up precious stones in most places around the world. and sometimes you can also buy them at the same place you get your tooth gems.
you will need mouth cotton to place under the lip while working on a tooth, and also one to wipe and wash off etch . It's also useful for polishing the gem at the end and to be sure the tooth gem attached to the tooth firmly.
you will need cotton swabs to apply the etch. they are also useful for drying a tooth if a client closed their mouth or wiping away excess glue
It's important to protect your eyes and your client's eyes from the blue light, ideally with protective dental glasses
Get a quality curing light from a dental supply. You will need this to harden the tooth glue that will hold the tooth gem onto the tooth. That is if you are applying them with glue that need to be light cured which is how I do it. There are also contact bonding glues which don't require a light but I don't use those.
use 37% phosphoric acid to etch the tooth before applying your glue and crystal,, this video talks more about it
You will learn what I specifically like to use, but also what other possiblities are
Use dental quality tooth crystals. Swarovski and Preciosa dental tooth crystals are what most professional tooth gem technicians use.

a little warning that some videos in this application section don't have sound. I muted them because I had music playing in the background that I don't have copyrights to but don't worry, I didn't say much,, they are mostly visual anyways ,,, detailed descriptions of the procedure are in the demosdone on the dental teeth model
