Hey guys,

PS Post anytime you need to. I don't bite!
Self-Growth, Flexibility and Towards or Away
Let’s do this! We kick off by briefly exploring self-growth and the attitude of flexibility. This is very important to set the foundation for this entire course.
We look at how the notion of 'towards moves' and 'away moves' can help us here too.
Then in the next section we go over The Life Areas Tool.
The Life Areas Tool
The Life Areas Tool gives us the foundations of
1) what is deeply important to us and,
2) where the imbalances are.
Then, we can take effective committed action to enrich our lives even more.
When we feel out of touch or out of balance in life, The Life Areas Tool can help us get aligned with some of the life areas that may have been neglected lately.
But where to from there?
Sometimes it can be helpful to have a list of personal qualities to reflect upon. The ones we are drawn to can then be brought into a particular life area of your choosing.
For instance, Dave could see that the life area of 'friends' hasn't been getting much energy lately AND it is of importance to him. He goes through a list of personal qualities and is then inspired to bring into this life area, the personal qualities of 'flexibility', 'compassion' and 'kindness'.
So:
Step 1: Find which important LAs need nurturing
Step 2: Choose some personal qualities to bring to these
Step 3: Take action!
Enjoy these two reflective practices that I've included for you. These were played on The Daily Insight at Insight Timer to thousands of people and touched a lot of people's hearts.
RESOURCES:
1. Choosing Personal Qualities AUDIO GUIDED PRACTICE
This brief reflective practice has just one small list of personal qualities
2. Choosing Personal Qualities AUDIO EXTENDED GUIDED PRACTICE
This reflective practice is has 3 lists of personal qualities. Also, please note the formal mindfulness practice in the middle. This is to practice the art of getting grounded, weaving this skill in to a reflective practice of such a length is very effective. This will make more sense when you explore The Mindfulness Triangle and how to teach it in Section 8 and 9.
Let's do this!
The Tick List
It's essential that you write down the following points. These will help you to put these tools into practice and really consolidate them.
The Rainbow and Super-Self-Growth
The Rainbow is a tool to help us recognise what’s going on for us, as well as being a reference point for managing the barriers that try and steer us away from things that, deep down, really matter to us.
Using The Rainbow helps us unhook from unhelpful patterns of behaviour and discern between self-growth and super-self-growth.
Super-Self-Growth and The Red Band of The Rainbow
Using The Rainbow helps us unhook from unhelpful patterns of behaviour and discern between self-growth and super-self-growth.
Super-self growth can include the red band of rainbow. Here we cover a simple tool to help us make space between the thing that is about to trigger you and your response.
The Tick List
You know the score! It's essential that you write down the following points. These will help you to put these tools into practice and really consolidate them.
Introduction to Choice Point
Here we break down that ‘just before’ moment of when we are being pulled into doing something that is not in our best interest.
It’s in these moments where we can move away from the type of person that we want to be. Choice Point empowers us for those fork-in-the-road moments.
Choice Point Visualisation
Here we explore a visualisation to help get this concept of Choice Point. This visualisation aims to help Choice Point get into your psyche for when you really need it, helping you stay aligned instead of pulled into reactivity.

Introduction to Urge Surfing
Can you recall a time when you gave in to an urge that resulted in you doing something you wish you hadn’t?
We’re going to explore what almost every human being can benefit from! Wow! Big statement, hey? This is because anyone, no matter who they are, can benefit from the skill or urge surfing.
Why? Because we all get caught up and pulled away from the type of person we want to be.
Urge Surfing Exercise and Locate and Rate 3 Step Process
Here we explore the power of urge surfing. We’re going to experience this through an experiential exercise. Then we'll explore a 3 step process for overcoming unwanted urges.

How to Practice Expansion
Here we explore some cool tools to practice expansion. There are two experiential exercises where we will practice this, starting from the inside, or starting from the outside.

Introduction to Unhooking from Unhelpful Thinking
Our minds are just doing their job! I know….they’re not on our side sometimes, right?
But when we explore the functions of the human mind from an evolutionary perspective, we start to take our unhelpful thoughts less seriously.
How to Unhook from Unhelpful Thinking
Now we've explored the why our minds are like this, we now need to look at the how to unhook from unhelpful thoughts.
Then our unhelpful thoughts begin to lose their power, and much more-so with practice. So this is where we look at 3 strategies of how to unhook from unhelpful thinking.
The Tick List

Introduction to The Mindfulness Triangle
Sections 8 and 9 are a micro course. This complements everything you know in this course as well as walking you through how to teach The Mindfulness Triangle.
Do you know a friend or a young person that could benefit from a simple model to help them unhook from unhelpful thoughts, or to enhance their moments of meaningful connection? Great! You’re the teacher!
If you really want to know something well, the best way to know it is to teach it.
Please see this little video to clear up any confusion about the definition of mindfulness. Then you'll be confident about how to go about teaching this to others :)
The 6 Benefits
Here we explore 6 benefits of how practicing The Mindfulness Triangle can help you in terms of self-growth.
The Tick List
Yes, I'm repeating myself AGAIN!
It's essential that you write down the following points. These will help you to put these tools into practice and really consolidate them.
PS Thank you for being part of this course :)
The Mindfulness Triangle - Main Concepts
This explores The Mindfulness Triangle in more depth. We go around the triangle experientially, such as noticing the difference between narrowed or expanded concentration.
Then you’ll be better equipped at answering some of the questions to those people you may want to teach this to.
Here is a guided audio that. This meditation has 1 set of 3 experiments. There are visualisations with this and I explain why this is necessary at times in the video.
Enjoy the structure. Design your own from this. Always give your students a choice throughout your guided practices. The idea is to help them enhance their points of focus.

The Mindfulness Triangle - General Tips
We continue to explore why to use The Mindfulness Triangle starting off with some general tips. Then we explore some interesting yet simple neuroscience.
This meditation is for practicing mindfulness informally, or 'on-the-go' as I make reference to in the guided audio.
It's good to distinguish between the two ways we can practice mindfulness:
Formal practice - when we stop-and-settle
Informal practice - when we're on-the-go
Practice this audio yourself, whilst you're out and about, or on-the-go.

Pulling everything together is my favourite part!
Before we do this I wanted to give you a quick 5 minute reflected practice.
When Times Are Tough...
This guided practice is called When You Pulled Through.
This meditation was also published as a Daily Insight on Insight Timer and went out to thousands of people. It received very touching responses from people.
Why?
Because people could relate to going through tough times. This is part of the human condition. The more we recognise and acknowledge our own inner strength, the more it helps us get through difficult times.
Wading Through The Swamp...
I use a metaphor of wading through the swamp to get to the other side. This is totally what self-growth and a flexible mindset is all about, yeah?
It's not just about aligning with LAs and being flexible in the green band of The Rainbow.
It's about wading through the swamp as best we can, to get to the other side. Sometimes we're in the orange band. Sometimes we're in the red.
This is part of what it means to be part of the change. That's our slogan at Mindful Creation. And you're doing exactly that right now by taking part in this.
Enjoy the practice.
PS If you love this, and want the extended version, let me know :)
Upon writing this course, some great questions arose regarding the logistics of how to implement these tools. Here are the tips from these questions.
As usual, anything else, whatsoever, please contact me :)
Pulling it All Together Main Summary
Yes! Rock on! This is where we consolidate everything we have covered so that you can celebrate just how much you've covered in this course..
Here is the final video. Watch it now!
Something attracted you to this title?
What was that?
Was it about enhancing meaningful connection, was it about being more aware?
Was it about getting more of a balance in your life with those things that you care about?
Maybe it was about having tips and tools to unhook from unhelpful thoughts, or make space for unwanted feelings so we can continue to move forward and do things that are important to us, despite this.
So, this course is designed to help us, be more grounded and connected, as well as enrich certain aspects of our lives. This is certainly what self-growth is about.
BUT...
...it also helps us for the times when things are not okay, for when we slip up and take regretful action. Or for when times are tough. It helps us be okay, with not being okay.
And this is where the flexible mindset comes in.
The tools within this course have been tried and tested to thousands of people, and you’ll be learning about these as well as the body of science as to where they’ve come from.
But… there’s another bonus here as well. With regards to my tagline Be Part of the Change. This is about how you can make a difference in other people’s lives too.
Here’s what goodies we get:
- a framework to help get clear on our heart's desires
- tools for when things get tough
- tools to help us unhook from unhelpful thoughts and realign
- tools to overcome barriers that steer us away from what we really want
- a simple fail-proof ritual to boost intention and stay on track, AND
- a bonus 2 session micro-course on The Mindfulness Triangle and how to teach it
Let's do this together and we can be part of the change.
