    This picture requires only 6 pastel pencils. I choose to use the Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencil Range but I have attached a Faber-Castell Colour Chart in the resources section if you wish to use another brand or see the colours. 

    Here are the pencils used:

    • 101 white

    • 184 dark naples ochre

    • 186 terracotta

    • 273 warm grey

    • 176 van dyke brown

    • 199 black

    The Pastel Paper I use is Sand Coloured Ingres Pastel Paper by Fabriano. You can find pads of 30 sheets on Amazon or our own art store.

    In the resources you will find the Outline Drawing and Reference Picture. You can print the outline drawing straight to pastel paper via your printer or use tracedown carbon paper to trace the image onto your pastel paper. We have also included a Faber-Castell Colour Chart if you want to use another brand of pastel pencil and compare colours.

Requirements

  • 6 Pastel Pencils (Faber-Castell Pitt is what Colin uses and refers to - 101 white, 184 dark naples ochre, 186 terracotta, 273 warm grey, 176 van dyke brown and 199 black.)
  • Pastel Paper - Colin uses Sand Coloured Ingres Fabriano Paper A4 (the raised tooth side of the paper)
  • Eraser
  • Colour Shaper Blending Tool (Optional - we recommend a grey chisel size 2 shaper)

Description

In my 30+ Years of Teaching Experience I have found that Pastel Pencils is the by far the easiest art medium to pick up and learn.

In this course you will learn how to use just 6 pastel pencils to create a stunning Tiger Portrait.

This course is designed for all levels including absolute beginners.

Because you only need 6 pencils to get started with this picture it makes an ideal project for beginner artists. Once you have completed this picture you can move onto our more advanced classes.

We provide you with an outline drawing so that you do not have to draw free hand. Trace this through to your paper or print it straight out using your printer.

Colin walks you through step by step with Video instruction how to draw each stage.

You'll learn techniques behind drawing fur, eyes, ears and more. You'll create a piece of art you can be proud of and hang on your wall.
