Description

This course is useful for mechanical and electrical engineering students or anybody interested in Thermodynamics Those interested in appearing for competitive exams like GATE,IES will also benifit from this course.

It is also useful for those interested in Physics

Course is an outcome of my teaching thermodynamics for about twenty years in an engineering institute of repute

This course will help students and professionals  to analyse heat engines, refrigerator and power plant using energy analysis concepts from thermodynamics                                  1 Develop immense interest in this subject because of emphasis on concepts

2 Apply these concepts for real Engineering problems

3 Easily pass exams involving Thermodynamics with flying colours after taking  this course

Thermodynamics is a science of energy transfer and primarily deals with heat and work transfer across system boundary and it's conversion . Thermodynamics is an extremely relevant and conceptual course for all students of engineering especially the mechanical engineering students .It is also extremely useful for the practising engineers and technicians working in power utilities ,process industries and other industries involving heat and work transfer. Often students find the concepts in Thermodynamics a bit difficult to understand .This course is designed for all such students and professionals who would want to learn thermodynamics in a simple easy to understand manner. The title of this course is therefore Thermodynamics made easy .This course deals primarily with the first and second law of thermodynamics as applied to closed and open systems . Steady flow energy equation numericals are included to clarify the application of first law in Engineering systems .Heat Engine Refrigerator and Heat Pump all three cyclic devices are studied from thermodynamic perspective.Performance assessment parameters like efficiency and Coefficient of performance are explained and numericals based on these are introduced. Both the Kelvin Planck Statement and Clausius statement of second law of thermodynamics is explained .Kelvin Planck Statement says that even am ideal engine will not an efficiency equal to 100 percent .The best engine is Carnot Heat engine and it's thermodynamic cycle the Carnot cycle is explained.
