Introduction to how to play the A chord and transitions

This lesson will be a brief outline of what you’ll learn in the upcoming level, how to play the A chord, how to transition between the E and A chord, how to count out songs and another way to read chord charts.

How to play the A chord

In this guitar lesson Michael will show you the easiest way to play the A chord with the chord chart, 3 ways to finger the chord, how to get to the front of the fret, how to stop the strings from muting, then 3 exercises to help your fingers with the chord.

How to transition between the E and A chords

In this lesson Michael will show you how to transition from the E chord to the A chord, changing the same way every time to build muscle memory. First we'll learn how to change from E to A then he'll show you how to change from A to E using the chord charts and how to strum and count when we play guitar.

How to count out songs and more transitions

In this lesson Michael will show you how to count out a song, and how to write it using chord charts, what 4/4 timing is and where the accents go, how to count 8th notes and bar lines. How to transition the same way every time by remembering the chords and finally how and why we use the capo and how to play the chords when you play guitar.

Another Way to Read Chord Charts and how to read chords with tab

In this guitar lesson Michael will show you how to read the chord charts if they are turned on their side, what the crosses and zeros mean and how to read chords written in tab.

In this lesson, we’ll do a checklist of all the techniques we did in this level and what you need to know before you move on to the next level.

E and A Chord and your 1^st song

Now that we know the E and A chord we'll try For What It's Worth by Buffalo Springfield. Michael will go over the chord transition and some tips to make it easier. We'll go through where to place your fingers and play the song using the chord charts doing one strum on each chord and holding for a 4 count then you'll learn how to play guitar with the song strumming on every count. 

E and A Chords and 3 more songs

This guitar lesson is a continuation of the previous, this time we will play Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus doing a strum on the first count, play with the song then play on every count with the song. We'll play You Never Can Tell by Chuck Berry, this time we'll do the whole song using the capo on the 3rd fret and Michael will show you how to play the chords with the capo on. Then we'll play Love Me Do by The Beatles also with the capo on with a stop on the A chord which Michael will show you how to do.

E and A Chords, another 3 songs

In this guitar lesson we'll play 3 Is The Magic Number by Embrace this time with 2 counts on each chord and Michael will show you how to count this with the chord chart, then we'll play Silence Is Easy by Starsailor using 8th notes and playing with the song and finishing with U.N.I. by Ed Sheeran with the capo on the 2nd fret, how to count and play with the song.

E and A chords, final 3 songs

This is the last lesson using the E and A chords. This time we'll play Paperback Writer by The Beatles with the capo on the 3rd fret and how to let a chord ring for 2 bars, we'll play This Is the Sea by the Waterboys and Michael will show you how to play in 3/4 timing, walk you through the chords and the tips you need. Then finishing with When Love Comes to Town by U2 and B.B.King and how to play a bar and a half with stops and playing along with all the songs.

We'll go over how to stop the power chord from ringing out and how to hold each power chord for a count of 4. In this lesson Michael will show you what alternate picking is, why we use it and how to do it. He'll show you all the tips you'll need and we'll play 3 exercises to get you started.

In this video Michael will show you what a scale is and why we use them.

How to Read a Scale Chart and The Minor Pentatonic Scale

Michael will show you how to read a scale chart what the minor pentatonic is, what fingers to use and why and how to play guitar using alternate picking. He'll also go over all the rules you need to know for this scale and some more tips to make it easy.

In this lesson Michael will show you what a metronome is and some different types of metronomes, why and how we use it when we play guitar, what B.P.M is, then we'll play the minor pentatonic at 60 B.P.M, 100 B.P.M and 300 B.P.M.

This is a continuation of the previous video. Michael will show you how to play Secondhand News by Fleetwood Mac using 2 count and 6 counts, Wild Thing by The Troggs playing with 8th notes and I'm A Believer by The Monkeys with the chord charts, then we'll play along with all the songs.

In this guitar lesson Michael will show you how to do an up strum on the guitar, give you an exercise and all the tips you'll need, then he'll go over the strumming pattern using the Em chord, then he'll show you how to count the strumming pattern.
