The Story Code: Book & Script Writing Secrets Revealed

Before we get TOO carried away, it's worth really considering what an idea actually is, before we try to think of any, right? This ground us in the fundamentals before we move on to the advanced stuff.

Like ideas, it's also worth considering what a story actually means and all that it entails. You will find a story you consumer like film or a book are actually a composite of a number of different elements. In the first part we talk about protagonist and characters.

In the second part, we look more at genre, plot, narrative with The Matrix as an example.

By looking at the book covers of popular thrillers, we can tease out the story hooks and reverse engineer them to create ideas of our own. Please use the blurb PDF to make notes.

This will look at the power of using controversial areas as another starting point for generating ideas.
