‘Build yourself up..? You may be thinking, well I’m all grown up and yet I still feel like I have been broken down by the circumstances of life. I am now, who I am, and there’s no changing who I’ve become.

In other news, we’re moving on to the Charismatic Conversationalist. You started out in the last chapter learning about how to build your self esteem so that you feel more confident and ready to take on new challenges. You learnt six exercises, some to do every day, and some to simply do every couple of months. Most of all, remember your daily mirror exercises and to review your daily victories.
Now let’s carry that confidence and readiness to pursue new challenges and focus on becoming the Charismatic Conversationalist.
Most people hate the thought of small talk (‘Small talk’ means the conversations you have with people you don't know very well). But here’s the thing, any friendship you’ve ever made has started with small talk on some level so really small talk creates the doorway to some of our most meaningful and important relationships in life. So instead of seeing it as a chore, rather see it as a potentially entertaining and exciting opportunity to meet the next most important person in your life.
Why is this chapter important to you?

Let’s soar right into improving your connection skills. Yes, your conversations are part of that, but there are a couple of other mind boggling tools to help you dive even further down the rabbit hole of social connection. Connection starts with conversations but now there’s a couple of extra ‘help-alongs’ to ensure that you really do shine in that situation and build friendships and connections with all those people you choose to.
Look out for how your mirroring and matching the other person can unconsciously build a strong connection between you and your new ‘friend’. It’s so effective it’s actually kinda spooky.
Also keep an eye out for the point where it says, the easiest way to build connection is to build similarities, shared interest and connections with that person.
And finally listen out for the Monkey experiment and what the mirror neuron actually helps human beings with.
After you’ve finished this lesson, you will feel like a supersonic connection master. In fact you’re going to feel on top of the world since you will make friends with just about anyone.

It seems we’ve got a potential peacock on our hands - all these soon-to-be-learnt smooth moves may just get you there...
We’re moving on to how you can build your physical appeal. We’ve just finished the chapter on how to build connection through finding similarities, mirroring and matching and complimenting people. This chapter however has to be complimented by your non-verbal language, in other words, body language.
Did you know that when you communicate, 55% is conveyed just through your body language. Crazy right? Also pretty scary when you think about what kind of information you’ve been giving away to people (Blush!). So whilst we’ve learnt how to build connection through body language and mirroring and matching, it is now time that we take this one more wing flap further and look at your physical appeal.
Today’s lesson is going to help you:
Understand why your body language is so important
Stop giving away personal thoughts that you actually don’t want people to know
Assume more attractive body language positions that actually attract people towards instead of repelling people away from you
Make you feel more confident in high pressure moments
Give you something to do with your hands when you’re at a party or event
Sit in some pretty cool positions as opposed to positions that make you look dorky, scared or just downright unattractive.
Look out for the positions that are most attractive to other people and how to stand when you don’t know what to do with your hands.
After this lesson you will understand other people’s body language better and you will feel confident enough to go to an event and know what you are doing with your body.

Today’s lesson is about turning the Great Depression into a Great first Impression.
Did you know that people judge you within five seconds of laying eyes on you?
Yeah, ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’ is a really sweet sentiment but one that most people don’t follow.
People take one look at you and decide whether they are going to give you a chance or if they are going to outright ignore you. Most of the time when you walk into a room, you’re still trying to pluck up the courage to greet everyone let alone give off an award winning performance.
In the last chapter you learnt how to stand and sit to give off a positive and attractive impression, you are now going to use those positions when making your entrance into a room to control your first absolutely-outstanding-magnificent first impression
Well today’s lesson is going to teach how to do both at the same time and still get an awe struck response from new people.
Why is this chapter important for you?
First impressions are lasting impressions
People will like you much quicker
You will feel confident and excited to walk into events
You will reduce your social anxiety
You will immediately brighten the room from the second you walk in
People will feel wonderful in your presence
You do not run the risk of insulting people at the beginning of a potential friendship

By the end of this lesson you’re going to be practising walking through the door and pausing giving off the best dam impression ever given. Not only that but you’ll feel excited to go somewhere just to show off this new skill. It’s one of my favorites and one of my best parts is to watch the responses that other people have towards me when I make this entrance.

Have you ever watched someone feeding birds, ducks or seagulls? These birds surround the “bird feeder”, orbiting her or him like she/he is the centre of their universe. In fact, they almost have the birds eating out of the palm of their hands, they are magnetic in those moments.
Well consider that you, too, will become this magnetic force. After today’s lesson you will have the confidence to walk into any event and exude that very same magnetism, should you want to. Obviously there are days when you may want to be magnetic and charismatic, and other days when you don’t want to be either of those things. That’s okay, but it’s definitely nice to know how to turn it on when the time is right.
In the last chapter we discussed how to make a powerful entrance to ensure you gave off a powerful first impression, you learnt about pausing and surveying the room. Well that pause is useful for two things:
So everyone can see you in the pose you wanted them to see you in.
You can decide where you are going to start networking the room, where you should head to, who you should talk to and perhaps whether you just pick up a drink.
This lesson will focus on teaching you what to do after you’ve made your super-duper-amazing entrance.

Remember the more you practise, the better you will get. It takes 3 weeks to start a behavioural pattern and 3 months for a behaviour to become automatic. So practise away and teach away! Research shows that when you teach someone you actually retain the information far quicker, so teach your friends, kids, parents, colleagues and anyone willing to listen.
