  • What Are Chords - Constructing & Recognizing Chords9:05

In this lecture you will learn what is Harmony, what are chords, and how to construct and identify them.

  • What are chords made of?
  • Ear Training - How to distinguish between the 4 types of Triad Chords?13:18

In this lecture we will learn how to distinguish between the 3 kinds of triad chords.

  • Ear Training: What Scale are they Playing??10:43

In this lecture we we learn how to pinpoint the scale that's played in the song, beginning with finding its Tonic.

  • Chords Within the Scale11:19

In this very useful tutorial we will learn how to sync the scale the song is with its available chords.

  • Available Chords in Each Scale
  • The Basic Rule of Harmonization8:18

In this lecture we will begin the first part of the three principles of harmonization - The Basic Rule.

  • The Basic Rule
  • Harmonizing According to the Basic Rule
  • Out of Chord Notes11:01

In this lecture we will learn the second principle of harmonization having to do with Out of Chord Notes.

  • Exercise: Harmonizing with Out of Chords Notes
  • Out of Chord Notes
  • Exercise: Improvising over an Harmonic Progression
  • The Three Harmonic Worlds12:14

In this lecture we complete the triangle of harmonization principles, by The Three Harmonic Worlds, or Functions.

  • Understanding the Three Harmonic Worlds
  • Recognizing 1-4-5 in Different Scales
  • The 2-3-6-7 Degrees in Major5:16

In this lesson we learn about the other harmonic degree chords of  the major scale:

    The2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th.

We will categorize them between the three categories of Tonic, Subdominant and Dominant, through listening to their musical effect.

I include here a very useful table with all the degrees classified according to their category in the "Three Harmonic Worlds".

I really recommend printing it, and even more - imprinting it in your minds...

  • Recognizing SDT in progressions including all degrees
  • The Three Harmonic Worlds in the Minor Key10:35
  • Why is the minor scale special harmonically?
  • Recognizing SDT Progressions in Minor
  • Following the Bass Line13:57

The most important tool we have in determining a chord progression exactly, is focusing on the bass line.

It takes a little practice, but it's worth it!

Requirements

  • This course is mainly for players of harmonic instruments like the piano of guitar. It requires minimum acquaintance with the instrument. Beginners is enough...
  • Knowledge of construction of chords by chord letters are bonus, but not essential as I teach here everything

Description

You've always wanted to join in with your guitar or keyboard instrument, accompanying other people singing or playing.

You always wanted to be able to improvise on harmonies with a group jamming.

But you never could.

Because you need a book or some other aid to tell you which are the right chords for the song or piece.

But you have seen other people (the fortunate ones...) who can do that - effortlessly.

They just sit down in front of the piano or take up a guitar, and play along.

And it sounds amazing!

Even worse for you, you see these guys change key on the spot, and that - even a music book can't do for you.

So.

How do they do that??

Is it something you have to born with?

If so, you are apparently from the unlucky guys who will have to settle for being always dependent on music books or sites.

But.

What if this thing is a thing which could be learned?

What if it's only a question of developing your hearing abilities (ear training) and harmonic understanding?

Well, actually it is!!

In this 10 lectures long course, I propose to do just that.

I teach you here in a very clear and concise way the theory behind the art of melody harmonization, so that you can understand how melody and chords come together.

But not less important, I dedicate a large part of the course to guide you how to recognize harmonic progressions by ear.

So that you can actually really guess, even without playing, what the next chord in the music is.

Because only through combining knowledge in the mind, and feeling through the senses, is it possible to master this proficiency.

And so you could finally join in, have fun with harmony and chords and perhaps even improvise your own music.

Only,

It's not as hard as it perhaps sounds...

Because over the years (about thirty of them...), I've developed methods of teaching, which can make it really easy and comprehensible.

And I have found that what usually blocks the way to achieve this knowledge is two thing:

The belief that you have to have it in your genes (=can't learn it if you weren't born with it), and -

Bad teaching methods.

In The Right Chord you will see that you don't have to born with it - provided that you practice and perform all the assignments.

And enjoy teaching methods that are not only useful, but also - fun and fulfilling!

So why waste time?

Fulfil your dreams!

Try TRC now, and transform your playing!

Waiting for you inside!

Eran
