Course content

1 section12 lectures1h 30m total length
  • Day 1: Why you should move your feet more...4:51

Learn how bending down and lifting with foot mobility protects the back by building stability from the feet upward, and identify daily situations to improve mobility with a plan.

  • Day 2: Manual handling technique #1: lift a foot6:17

Master the lift a foot technique to protect your back, learn side balance and torso–leg synchronization for lifting near the floor with a light load.

  • Day 3: Manual handling technique #2: bring a foot back13:58

Master two manual handling variants, three get-up techniques, and common mistakes to avoid, including pushing on a support, three-step ascent, and a rotation method to stay safe.

  • Day 4: Pushing and pulling of loads14:01
  • Day 5: Manual handling technique #3: bend on your knees...?5:47

Debunk the knee-bend myth: a round-back lift overloads the discs and increases knee pressure. Master postural reconstruction, keep weight under the arch, and lift only above knee level when needed.

  • The 3 techniques...
  • Day 6: Strength exercises for your legs4:36

Learn resistance-band leg strengthening with lying and standing movements secured to door hinge, highlighting box use, flat back, and pelvis tilt to boost coordination and prevent iliopsoas-related anterior pelvic tilt.

  • Day 7: The less you carry, the better...9:19

Learn three bending techniques and the four-step plan to minimize effort; the less you carry is better, using technical aids, organizational changes, and proper posture.

  • Day 8: Recognizing manual handling hazards8:09

Recognize manual handling hazards by keeping loads near the navel and aligning with the center of gravity. Use legs and available technical means to handle unstable or asymmetric loads safely.

  • Day 9: Cladding - why, how, where4:28

Cladding prepares the body for lifting by contracting three regions: legs with heels together, buttocks and lower abs, and the back (lower traps and lats), before and after loading.

  • Day 10: Daily life examples8:53

Learn practical manual handling through three core techniques for daily life, emphasizing the one-and-a-half foot method and keeping loads close to the belly button with the thigh for stability.

  • Day 11: Posture transitions - moving to and from the floor4:25

Master two floor transitions: a straight-body reset to lie and rise, and a rotational method using the axis of rotations; remove obstacles and use transfer sheets to roll patients.

  • Day 12: When prevention isn't enough - first aid tips6:03
  • Final quiz
