Description

Imagine that having low confidence or self-esteem was no longer a factor in your life. What would you change, give, do or become? Those who make the greatest impact in life are those who choose to dismiss their insecurities and take decisive action instead. You can be like this too.

There is a common underlying reason why people lack confidence or self esteem. Most people would like to have more confidence in a particular area of their life; personally or professionally. This can be in their relationships, at work, by themselves or even when communicating with others.

Developing real confidence that lasts requires two things from us. Firstly, to understand ourselves and who we actually are, and secondly, to become more aware of how well we relate to the past, and towards those other people in our lives.

Everyone has low self-esteem from time to time, but if we don't have a strategy for shaking it off the moment it arrives, we can end up living disempowered lives where we're ruled by our emotions instead of us being in control of the process. Nobody wants to live life this way.

Throughout this course, you will discover how to;

  • Apply life-changing NLP principles into your everyday life.
  • Understand fears, anxieties and other destructive emotions.
  • Master your thinking and take control of your emotional states.
  • Grow in character, maturity, decisiveness, consistency and strength.
  • Focus your attention more on what you want, and less on what you don't want.
  • And much more ...

'The NLP Confidence & Self Esteem Breakthrough Programme' offers a range of practical confidence-building options to those who're ready to move their self esteem 'up a gear' and better manage the negative self-talk that often commonly occupies our minds.

This well-structured course is packed full of unconventional ideas that can be used to break unwanted habits and limiting beliefs, build confidence and transform your self-esteem. You'll become motivated to pursue your short and long-term goals with all the courage and inner strength that you'll need throughout the process.

NLP is a model of modern applied psychology that is specifically focussed on achieving results. Rather than exploring the past, an NLP Coach will put his or her efforts into building a well-formed outcome that will mobilise a person towards achieving the result. The well-formed outcome frame can be used in a wide range of contexts.

Let’s look at the ‘Present state to Desired state’ model. This is a core model of NLP, to the extent that it’s listed as essential content knowledge for NLP Practitioner attendance courses.  It’s a very high-level structure of any NLP intervention: you start with the Present State and apply resources to get to whatever the Desired State is.

Moving from Present State to Desired State

Let’s explore the ‘Present to Desired state’ model. This is a core idea within neuro-linguistic programming.

It’s a 'kind of' high-level structure of any NLP intervention, where you start with a client's (or your own) Present State and apply resources until you can help them to reach their Desired State.

The presuppositions of NLP are neither rules nor regulations, and no-one even claims them to be true! Presuppositions are merely beneficial beliefs that we can choose to absorb into our lives. Remember, NLP does not concern itself with whether something is true or not but instead focuses on attaining the desired outcome. Building these ideas into your life can empower you in ways you cannot imagine.

In this video we'll explore the relational dynamics that are typically in play when we feel anything less than fully secure when interacting with other people. We could call this, insecure triangulation.

If we feel insecure within ourselves when relating to other people, there is a chance that we might have given our power away. People who do this have usually come to believe that other people are either scary, dangerous (or unsafe) and are more powerful than what they are in some way.

When a person believes in this way, there are three different roles that they can play in their relationships.

Role 1) THE VICTIM. Those people who believe they are victims (of bad guys) will commonly look for someone to rescue them and make them feel safe and secure. Do you know anyone like this?

Role 2) THE BAD GUY. Some insecure people see themselves as the 'bad guy' (rejected, unloved or unwanted) and end up using control, manipulation and intimidation to force other weaker people into doing what they want. There's a high chance you already know someone like this!

Role 3) THE RESCUER. Those people who like to be a rescuer, try to take responsibility for other peoples broken lives so that they can feel more powerful within themselves. Don't let these patterns become your story!

In this video Kain discusses the three states of human existence with a follow on exercise that is designed to help you gain a much deeper understanding of yourself. These three states include the way in which we relate to ourselves, the way we relate to others, and how well we relate to our pasts. These three factors play a huge role in determining how confident we are in life.

A person with an internal locus of control believes that he or she can influence events and their outcomes, while someone with an external locus of control blames outside forces for everything. This concept was brought to light in the 1950's by Julian Rotter and is a very helpful model that helps us to better understand how we relate to our day to day experiences.

I've long held a fascination with the concept of time travel. Movies with time travel themes, such as 'Back to the Future' (1985, 1987 and 1990) and were amongst my favourites. Experiencing the world through the eyes of someone who has been shifted to an unknown time (and place) has always been fascinating.

Unfortunately though, we can't see into our future, and we can't go back to change the mistakes of the past, much as we might like to. Despite this, many of us do a lot of emotional time travelling every day. Some of us are stuck in an unresolved past, fretting and regretting about what we did and what we should have done instead.

And some of us are lost in some illusion of the future, agonising over what might (or might not) happen. We fall into habits of being elsewhere rather than here and now. And we waste precious time with others and ourselves when we do so.

It's great to escape while at the movies, but escaping from our present lives is such a shame. How many of us have missed opportunities of trying something new because of our fear of the unknown?

How many people do you know who have ruined their relationships because of the preoccupation that they had with past ones? How many of us are currently floating through life on automatic pilot, not noticing what is around us?

How do we change these habits so that we can be more fully present? There is no question that it is hard to shift our focus when we have had years of practice in living another way. But just as we learned to avoid our present, we can learn to engage in it again by understanding this idea of emotional time travel.

One way to describe most unhappiness is that we develop "tunnel vision," narrowly focusing in on a problem while ignoring everything else that surrounds it.

We also tend to take problem experiences out of the flow of time, isolating them from what preceded and followed them. While this concentration can be useful in order to study a situation to see what can be done, a narrow view often leaves out the very information that we need in order to start moving toward a solution.

To see a problem "in perspective" means to see it in relation to something else, and the same thing is true of our thinking about ourselves. There are countless means through which we can enlarge our perspective. Simply expanding your field of vision to include much more of what is happening simultaneously in the moment gives a perspective that is literally wider and broader in scope, the "big picture" that includes much more information.

Typically when a problem is seen within a larger context, it appears smaller and easier to solve, and the additional information included may provide a basis for a solution. Expanding the frame in this way is the most common pattern in most cartoons. Usually a series of small frames sets up a puzzling or confusing situation, and then a larger frame at the end includes something new that resolves the puzzle and makes sense out of it, therefore, changing the meaning of what was previously a problem.

Personal change is an internal experience and also an external one at the same time. It stems from a change in our mindset and thus branches out from there.

In truth, we are always moving toward some things, and away from other things. But for lasting change to occur in our lives, we must pass through a series of tipping points in relevant succession. This doesn't mean that personal change can’t happen quickly because it can. What it does mean is that all of the most significant changes that we experience in life follow a particular sequence.

In this article, Kain discusses the NLP process of personal transformation.

Life is a series of events, and with each event we attach a meaning. With each event we decide upon an interpretation. It is with these interpretations or attached meanings that we define who and what we are and what we can have and do. Then we go about life collecting evidence to confirm and validate these interpretations. In this video, we'll discuss our innate natural process of interpreting.

For decades, the human brain has been compared to a computer. The common assumption has been that while some people’s computers are more powerful than others (higher IQ, etc.), the main difference between people is in the software (the programs) that they run.

These programs include both the ‘apps’, or strategies we use, and the ‘deeper programs’ – our beliefs and values. Some apps are so popular that we think of them as factory installed. In the same way that 8 out of 10 computers in use today have a version of Microsoft Office installed, so 8 out of 10 people take on the majority of the beliefs (and values) of the culture in which they reside.

But far more important to the effectiveness of a computer is what’s baked into the firmware – the BIOS (built-in operating system). Even the most effective programs can’t run without interfacing with the BIOS of the computer.

When it comes to human beings, the basic operating principle is this: 100% of your experience of life is created from inside the system.

That is, contrary to the way things appear, the only way the human experience can unfold is from the inside-out. No exceptions. The system only works one way. And the clarity of our seeing this underpins the way in which we handle every situation in our lives.

Cognitive distortions refer to irrational ways of thinking about ourselves and the world around us.

There are specific (and common) ways that we distort our thinking. These thoughts and beliefs can lead to problematic emotional states and behaviour, like anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and relationship conflicts. Becoming more aware of the cognitive distortions that tend to influence our thinking allows us to make changes towards more rational and objective thoughts whenever possible. Cognitive biases are tendencies to think in certain ways that can lead to systematic deviations from a “standard of rationality” or good judgment, and are often studied in psychology and behavioural economics.

cognitive bias is a pattern of irregularity in judgment, whereby inferences about other people and situations may be drawn in an illogical fashion. Peoples create their own “subjective social reality” from their perception of the input. An individual’s construction of social reality, not the objective input, may dictate their behaviour in the social world.

Thus, cognitive biases may sometimes lead to perceptual distortion, inaccurate judgment, illogical interpretation, or what is broadly called irrationality. It's important that we introduce you to the idea of cognitive bias at this stage of the course, as it's within the next few videos that you'll unconsciously arrive at a decision about whether you like this course or not, based upon the biases you already have.

The Mind can be our greatest ally or our most troublesome foe if we don't fully understand it, nor how to manage it. Recognising how your mind works can be the first step we take towards mastering it.

The human mind has three states: The Reasonable Mind, the Emotional Mind, and the Wise Mind. We all possess each of these states, but the majority of people operate in a specific one most of the time.

The Wise Mind Model

There is a wisdom of the head, and… a wisdom of the heart.” – Charles Dickens

Humans have a natural tendency to operate from a place of pure reason or pure emotion. When we are viewing the world through either lens, we miss out on the big picture. It can feel cold and lifeless to view events and relationships with nothing but logic and rational thought.

Conversely, it can feel chaotic and disorganised to view our lives from the perspective of pure emotion. In order to live the most effective and balanced lives possible, it is advantageous to learn how to integrate reason with emotion. This integration is “wise mind.”
