The NEW TOEFL iBT Exam - Speaking Section Strategies

The NEW TOEFL iBT Exam: Speaking Section Strategies first gives an overview of the speaking sections of the new edition of the TOEFL iBT exam that will be launched in late January 2026. The course will cover the new question types and will also offer strategies on how to perform well.

The focus of the first part of the speaking test will be on improving rhythm, intonation, linking, stress, and vowel pronunciation in order to give a natural, clear repetition of the type of speech test-takers will hear on the test day. The goal is to also improve listening skills and recognize when the narrator in the exam uses these same elements of clear speech too in order to copy them.

The second part will offer a framework and strategies for answering the prompts completely and with depth, including vocabulary depth and grammatical accuracy and complexity. Each question type will be discussed separately and include specific, unique approaches.

This course combines elements of accent reduction training with time-tested framework and templates in order to provide learners with a unique and superior curriculum from an instructor, who was an ETS speaking rater for a decade and currently is an accent reduction coach.
