Find out what we'll be working on together, and see if you can tell the difference between our paintings!
We'll answer some of the most important questions in this lecture, like, "What are we going to paint?" "What paints do we need?" And "Do we need any special skills to complete this painting?" You'll find an image of all of the colors we'll use for this painting in the Resources section of this lecture.
In this lecture, we'll continue discussing the supplies that we need before we get started, and how we'll use them. There's also a list of these in the Resources Section of this lecture.
In this lecture, we'll draw our basic circle outline with a piece of chalk. Because this step is done with a light-colored piece of chalk, we've included a downloadable version of the drawing in a dark color in the Resources section of this lecture.
Now that we've drawn our circle, let's work on the outline and shape of our hummingbird. Refer back to the hummingbird outline if you need help- located in the Resources section of the previous lecture.
Now it's time to pick our paint colors and choose our supplies to paint the background or the sky.
In this lecture, we'll show you how to pour each of your paint colors onto your paint plate so we can paint the sky.
In this lecture, we'll paint the sky together. We'll show you how to hold your paintbrush, which strokes to use, and how to add layers and dimension as we go.
This is a really fun step- using our dropper to drip purple paint across our sky. This gives the background a really fun effect and a bit of color contrast.
Once the purple drips have dried a bit, we can use our roller tool to add one final fun layer of color and texture to our background. We'll show you how to use your texturing tool and which paint colors we'll use.
Now it's time to pour the paint colors that we'll use to roll our texturing tool through.
We've poured our paint and picked our texturing tool, so now let's paint!
Now it's time to focus on the hummingbird. In this lecture, we'll go over the paintbrush, tools, and paint colors that we'll use for this step.
In this lecture, we'll pour the paint colors that we'll use for our lovely hummingbird.
In this lecture, we'll paint our hummingbird together, and we'll show you step by step how to blend the colors in a super easy way.
Now, it's time to bring out your little piece of cardboard! We'll show you how to fold it and stamp some "feathers" onto the hummingbird.
Let's talk about the flowers! We'll switch from cool colors to warm colors to give our painting a pop, and we'll go over all the colors you'll want to use. Plus, we'll take a look at the paintbrush and technique we'll use for this step.
Time to pour our paint colors for our flowers!
In this lecture, we'll paint the petals of the flowers by using an easy painting technique and blending lots of beautiful bright colors together.
What do you do if there's white in the background of your painting? Or the space for the hummingbird's beak is too big? We'll fix this right up with our super small paintbrush and our blue paints.
In this lecture, we'll use another small piece of cardboard to paint some details on the flowers. Then we'll use a paintbrush (about 1/2 cm in width) to paint the green vine that connects all of our flowers
We're almost finished! Let's grab our favorite foam brush, and black and white paint to work on our details and outlines. This is where the hummingbird really comes alive, so let's have some fun making it all come together!
We're in our final step here! Now, we'll use a very small paintbrush to make a few outlines to our flowers, and we'll give our hummingbird an eye so he can see his way to the flowers!
Congratulations! You did it!!
What do you get when you put an aromatherapy and massage instructor in the same room with an acrylics painting teacher? It's an afternoon you'll have to watch and experience yourself, that's for sure!
International best-selling massage therapy instructor Mark Perren-Jones and world-renowned acrylics artist and muralist Autumn Toñita come up with some of their best ideas during Happy Hour, and this painting course is one of them. Could Autumn come up with a design that she and Mark could paint together? Would the two paintings turn out similar to each other? Would they get lost in conversation and forget what they were doing? Would they crack jokes and make the whole experience a total blast? Would they ask their friends later to try to figure out who painted which canvas?
The answer to all of the above is yes, absolutely, they did. And they filmed the whole thing to share with you!
In this acrylics painting course, Mark and Autumn will show you how simple it is to complete a painting in a day, how to choose your supplies and paint colors, how to paint with textures and dimensions, and how to have FUN throughout the process. If you have a hard time drawing images, don't worry- they'll make drawing super easy to follow along.
