The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the fundamentals of mammalian cell culture. The initial lesson of the program provides a fundamental introduction to cell culture, including definitions, varieties of cultures, distinctions between primary and secondary cultures, as well as the significance and applications of cell culture in the field of biotechnology. The second lesson introduces the different types of cell lines, along with their examples. The third lecture covers the prerequisites and essential supplies for a laboratory devoted to cell culture experiments. The fourth lecture covers challenges in laboratory safety, aseptic technique, and various cell culture contaminations, while the final lecture covers fundamental cell thawing, cryopreservation, and subculturing procedures. Although there are certain similarities in the fundamentals of cell culture experiments, the conditions under which cells are cultured differ significantly between labs and cell types.
