I have been teaching English online for 2 years now and in that time I have taught for 3 different online schools based in Thailand, China and Europe. I have also taught English in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Russia, Turkey & India through 3 different create a profile sites.
This wasn't always my life though!
About 2,5 years ago I left my corporate gig in private banking for one of South Africa's biggest and most prestigious Private & Corporate Banks. I wasn't satisfied with my career and where it was going. I was in search of something a little less suffocating and far more fulfilling. I stumbled upon online English teaching and it has since changed my life.
I didn't have any know how whatsoever when I decided to start dabbling in this arena. BUT through trial and error I found myself succeeding. Online English teaching is a very specific market, with very specific requirements and I made it even more niche for myself by choosing to only teach adults. This only made the journey more difficult. But me being a persistent spirit I did just that... I persisted. And even with the wrong skin tone and a visual deficiency and distortion I was able to land gig after gig!
So how did I do it?
A lot of my friends and heck...even strangers who find out I teach online all want to know "how do I get started?" "How does it work?"...
Hence this course!

Hi. I am Mutondwa.
I am a young South African.
I have two Bachelors of Commerce Degrees. One in Financial Planning. Another in Business Management.
I call myself "the tiny little writer" because I LOVE writing. Actually to be a little more pedantic about it, I LOVE English. I love speaking it, writing in it and teaching it.
And... I am also tiny in stature. Something that in spite of my own personal disdain towards the subject, people like to bring up anyway.
Talk about pointing out the obvious.
Fresh off the boat of graduate studies I worked in Private Banking for two years for a really fancy Private Bank. I tried the corporate thing, but I failed miserably. Flat faced on the ground kicking and screaming, miserably.
After leaving corporate I found myself wandering until I stumbled into Online English teaching. I have been doing this for 2,5 years now and its really ignited lakes of fulfillment in me.
There is something quite profound about being able to help someone realize a personal goal. To see their progress and know that you've been part of changing even just a small part of their lives.
I admire my students. How frustrating it must be to know one language with liquid fluency and still want to learn another, sometimes starting from setting the car to first gear...
Heck, if I new Mandarin Chinese with all its 50'000 or so characters I would not be learning a language as basic as English.
But they do. And that is admirable. That pushes me to be the best helper I can be to their English learning journey.
I am now looking to move on to the next chapter of my life and unsurprisingly the next door I want to beat down happens to be course design.
Hence here we are...
I have just recently founded an online consulting business called Youngpro's where I specialize in helping young professionals from all over the world realize their English learning objectives.
I have even had the opportunity to flex my finance and business management skills in the process.
I been involved in doing English consulting for an Italian software company in the middle of an acquisition negotiation. I have assisted managers looking to communicate better with their employees. I have helped hotels train their staff on proper English etiquette. I have helped students prepare for big job and scholarship interviews. I have helped nurses improve their English in the subject of patient care. I have helped students prepare for nerve wracking work presentations.
