The Event Caricature Drawing Course - Beginer to Advanced

Before we begin diving into the substance of this course, I want to make yourself familiar with the instruments you need to draw nice good looking caricatures at events. Using these, you will have proper speed and make the maximum out of the technique!

Many people want to skip straight to drawing caricatures but they forget to study the fundamentals and the base of drawing caricatures at events which is mastering the line technique. In this lecture, we will go over the basics of drawing good straight, angular and curve lines and how practicing this skill can benefit you in many different ways. You also get a good set of exercises to train your hand and get a good muscle memory so drawing quality caricatures becomes second nature!

Now that you have a basic understanding of lines and how to draw the caricature you are going to learn about coloring the caricature. In this lecture, you will learn what instruments you need to color a caricature with good speed at live events and what to look for when purchasing them.

In this lecture students will learn about step by step coloring technique for caricatures using a side view for observing the way to use the instruments. We'll start by drawing and then coloring a caricature.

In this lecture, students will go deeper into the coloring technique with an above the page view to better see how to use the strokes when coloring. Avoid some mistakes in coloring by mastering the proper hand movement using colors.

Digital coloring is a nice way to color scanned caricatures using PC in order to send them online or to fulfill online orders. In this lecture, you will go over the software you'll need and a short sequence of tools to use just to color the caricatures without having to learn using the entire software. 

Before we begin diving into the substance of drawing the caricature I want to give you a brief overview of the basic head shapes of drawing using a nice visual representation. Do you know there are two ways of drawing a caricature? After this lecture, you will be able to draw the human face with relative ease and not making mistakes in positioning the elements on the face.

Not all the time the subject will the sitting full face towards you. Or sometimes they will be distracted and will move. So it is good to practice drawing caricatures from a 3/4 angle as well. In this lecture, you will learn how to approach the 3/4 caricatures and the sequence of drawings. By the end of this lecture, you will have a good understanding of the 3/4 caricature and why it is important to master it.

I will break down my process for drawing old people caricatures step by step.

In this lecture, I will draw from photos a couple of caricatures so you can see exact details concerning, proportions, exaggerations, speed, and likeness in the real drawing. Sometimes you want to add an extra gig feel to a caricature to compensate for the lack of facial expressions of the person or because the person asked you for this favor. When drawing bodies it is good to have a set of visuals that you can easily variant and put on paper. In this lecture, I will show you how to draw a fast main body type and the steps to adapt this body type intro different bodies to suggest activities or hobbies. By the end of this lecture you will be able to add a main theme to the caricature with the use of minimal lines, props and accessories and in a short matter of time.
