This position reports to the Specialty Head, Market access & HEOR. The candidate must reside near Montreal or Markham, as the role adheres adheres to a "3 days in office" policy.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing market access, health economics & outcomes research strategies to gain / maintain / optimize reimbursement for new and existing products with various public and private payers;
Developing submissions dossiers for CDA, INESSS and private payers, including the development of budgetary impact analyses and the development/adaptation of economic analyses. This requires:
Liaising with the global market access organization to leverage the global value dossier, market access strategies & payer tools;
Liaising & collaborating with global health economics organization to support reimbursement strategies in Canada
Planning and coordinating Canadian health economics & outcomes studies to support strategies to gain / maintain / optimize reimbursement for new and existing products with various public and private payers
Ensuring effective communication of health economics & outcomes studies progress and results to relevant audiences (e.g. investigators, brand team, etc.);
Preparing abstracts/manuscripts of study results for publication / presentation, as required;
Liaising with consultants, contract research organizations, economic experts, etc. on various health economics & outcomes research projects;
Collaborating with clinical research on studies with economic and quality of life endpoints;
Defend and explore opportunities to broaden access for key products among the various jurisdictions across Canada.
Playing an active role on Brand Team to identify opportunities to work collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues to deliver on brand objectives.
Monitoring timelines and budget expenditures for market access initiatives & health economics & outcomes studies.
Qualifications
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor Degree in Science; Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D;
Graduate Degree in pharmacoeconomics, epidemiology or drug development, an asset.
3-5 years of experience in a similar role in pharmaceutical industry
The ideal candidate should have expertise in market access, pharmacoeconomic and outcomes research with pertinent experience in the pharmaceutical industry, including previous experience directly dealing with payers and health technology agencies.
Strong commercial/ business background an asset.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
Strong clinical acumen or ability to acquire it quickly, across different therapeutic areas.
Strong communication effectiveness, medical writing (technical) skills and presentation skills.
Strategic thinking, analytical and data interpretation skills to support the development of compelling value propositions addressing public and private payer needs.
Strong cross-functional leadership skills and team player. Work with field-based Market Access & Government Affairs team, Brand Teams and global Market Access & HEOR organization to develop strategies and tools to fully leverage value stories with customers.
Initiative and Action-driven. Translate market access & HEOR strategies into actionable and realistic plans to maximize reimbursement opportunities for Abbvie products in a timely manner.
Ability to prioritize & project management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects across different therapeutic areas and work well under stress (timelines).
High quality standards & rigor; detail oriented.
Understanding of public and private drug reimbursement landscape and health technology assessment process and submission requirements in Canada.
Understanding of pharmacoeconomic principles / guidelines and methodological developments, as well as experience in development of economic studies in collaboration with internal (e.g. Medical department, global HEOR) and external (e.g. academic, research organizations) experts.
Participated to publication process/RWE/data generation projects.
Previous experience dealing directly with payers, an asset.
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as Outlook.
Incumbent is also required to work with databases, such as Payer specific databases (e.g. PharmaStat, RxDynamics, etc.), and clinical trial databases as well as having experience working with Decision modeling (TreeAge) database.
Travel: Availability to travel within Canada about 10 % of the time and 10% of the time internationally.
Valid Passport and driver’s license required.
