Why are there so many different symptoms with cortisol imbalance? Because there are actually multiple different types of a cortisol imbalance (and each type has it's own healing strategy, which we cover for each one).
Switching Off Those Stress Hormones
We have learned on where our stress is coming from (with all angles). Today, we're working with our nervous system to switch the OFF button on fight or flight and the ON button for rest and digest!
Your action task is to schedule 15 minutes of self-care twice per day. You can build this into your morning and evening routine - the important thing is to find which activities you enjoy doing that you know you could be consistent with. Consistency is key.

In this lesson, we're going to look at why over-exercising could be holding you back from hormone balance and feeling energised. Less is more when it comes to exercise and adrenal balance, with MORE exercise potentially pushing you further into adrenal dysfunction.
Slowing down and changing how you move your body in a more restorative way is key. Then, once you've learned how to nourish and fuel your body and have restored balance to your adrenals, you can bring your favourite exercises back into your routine in a mindful way.
I want to point out here that higher intensity exercises aren't 'bad'. When the body is already in a state of stress and depletion, high intensity exercise draws heavily on our already depleted energy reserves. This precious energy is something we need to protect while we're healing adrenal balance.

What is cortisol?
It's our stress hormone, and our awake hormone. When we're pumping out cortisol, our biorhythms become out of balance. Cortisol is meant to be high in the morning when we're waking up (remember, it's also our awake hormone) and lowest in the evening when it's time to sleep.
When this rhythm becomes out of balance it can be hard to wake up in the mornings, you may have trouble sleeping at night and you may rely on caffeine for energy. Not only do you feel more tired and struggle to sleep, but you can end up with a whole host of other symptoms like nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, weight gain, plus chronically low cortisol.
