Design systems are no longer a “nice to have” — they’re the backbone of fast, consistent product teams, especially in the age of AI. In this course, you’ll learn how to design, build, and maintain a real, production‑ready design system that your whole team can trust.
I’m Vitsky, a Design Systems Lead and product designer with 11+ years of experience. I’ve led design at startups and scale‑ups, worked with teams at companies like Deloitte and Flare, taught hundreds of students, and today I lead the design system at Melio. This course distills the exact methods and patterns I use in real products.
You’ll start by setting up foundations and design tokens, then move into components, composites, and layout. We’ll cover interaction states, accessibility considerations, naming, structure, and how to build components that are flexible without becoming unmanageable. You’ll also learn how to document your system so designers, developers, and stakeholders can actually use it.
By the end of this course you will:
Understand the principles behind effective, scalable design systems
Build a complete system in Figma, from tokens to complex composites
Create documentation that supports designers, developers, and product teams
This course is for intermediate designers who want to go beyond components and build a design system that truly powers their product.
