This is the beginning of any beatboxers journey - the 3 fundamental sounds! These are the 'Kick' or 'Bass' drum, the 'Hi-Hat' and the 'Snare' drum. With these 3 sounds you can beatbox the rhythm of almost any style of music. Let's go!
In this lesson we will practice 3 different beat patterns to help you develop your beatbox skills. Remember to start 'slowly' and speed up the beats as you get better.
The Rim-Shot is an awesome snare sound. A short, sharp and crisp sound.
The Inward Snare. An impressive snare sound that you make while breathing inwards.
The 'Roland TR-808' is an electronic drum machine developed in 1980. The classic 808 Snare Sound you will learn here is the snare sound made by this drum machine. The Roland TR-808 Drum Machine was a huge inspiration to beatboxers at the time and still is today! This is quite an easy one to learn. Enjoy!
Good breathing technique is very important when beatboxing. In this lesson I will show you how you breathe in and out while making the 'Kick', 'Hi-Hat' and 'PF' Snare. This will be very helpful as you progress on your beatboxing journey.
Here I will demonstrate to you how the 'Inward Snare' can be used to take inward breaths while beatboxing.
This breathing technique allows you to breathe in and out through your nose while beatboxing with your mouth.
Ok, time to learn one of my favourite sounds.. the 'Throat Bass'.
Learn the 'Vocal Scratch' sound. Another one of my favourite sounds!
Learn 'The Buzz' Sound. When you learn this technique properly, it can be used in so many different ways like producing heavy bass and robotic sounds.

In this course you will learn the 3 fundamental beatbox sounds (The bass drum, The Hi-Hat & The Snare), additional snare sounds like the classic 808 snare, the rimshot and the inward snare. You'll also learn sound effects like throat bass, the buzz, the pop and the vocal scratch plus fills, breathing techniques and an introduction to singing & beatboxing at the same time. You'll learn how to put it all together into some basic beats. Once you've got this down, you can really take your beatboxing where you want. You will also try exercises to help you develop your beatbox flow.
On top of that you will learn how to write beat patterns which is a useful way to help remember your beats and to try out new ones.
By the end of this course you will have all the tools to become a great beatboxer. With beatboxing you are using muscles which need to be strengthened. Certain sounds can take some time as you build up the strength in the muscles, in your lips and throat. Here you can learn some of the most popular beatbox sounds and techniques and try them out whenever you like.
