  • Introduction: Healing Your Relationship with Your Body5:25

This lecture by Tara Deliberto, PhD, introduces the course, 8 Steps to Healing Your Relationship with Your Body.  Here, Dr. Tara explains that the following topics will be covered in the course:

    • What accepting your body really means and how to do it

    • What contributes to unhealthy body image

    • What behaviors you engage in that maintain your unhealthy body image

    • What emotions underlie unhealthy body image and how to confront as well as move past them

    • How to move away from judgment and towards gratitude and acceptance

    • And lastly, how to continue improving body image after the course is over

Each lecture comes with a meditation and a handout.  See below for the introductory meditation on a technique called "square breathing."  After watching Lecture Video 1 and practicing Meditation 1, complete Handout 1 to further reflect and deepen your insights.

Note: This course is for people who struggle with having poor body image.  It is not treatment for diagnosable illness nor a substitute for care with a licensed mental health professional.

  • Real Acceptance5:41

Lecture 2 is on what acceptance of the body is, and is not.  The really ambitious goal of this course is to work towards replacing judgment and the act of conditionally being pleased with our bodies when they behave with unconditional acceptance. It may seem impossible, but it can absolutely be done!  This lecture will discuss how.

After watching Lecture Video 2 and practicing Meditation 2, complete Handout 2 to further reflect and deepen your insights.

Note: This course is for people who struggle with having poor body image.  It is not treatment for diagnosable illness nor a substitute for care with a licensed mental health professional.
