Welcome to this course on FL Studio. Thank you once again for purchasing this course.
Everything you need to know about the program is here, from how to use the interface, to its synthesisers and more. At the end of the course is a secret coupon that you can use on my other course, How to Build a Trance Track from Scratch, so that you can put your skills to the test.
Extra resources are also included in some of the lectures too, such as cheatsheet PDFs and eBooks. Keep an eye out for these!
In this lecture we will look at the interface, the buttons, the basic layout of the program and how to navigate around it.
Here we take a look at the playlist - FL Studio's way of arranging anything going on in your project, such as audio, automation and pattern clips
Let's take a look at the Channel Rack, which is where you can see a list of all of your automation controls, audio and sound generators.
The browser is where you can view all of your files with your project, whether those are audio clips, MIDI files or anything else that can be used in an FL Studio project
The mixer is where you can view all of your mixer tracks and is where you apply effects such as compression, delay and reverb to instruments.
The way that I use FL Studio is how it was traditionally used and designed to work - however there is a way of using it in a similar manner to other DAWs. Find out how here.
Here we will run through in depth how exactly to add plugins and manage them within FL Studio
In the following section of videos, we're going to be looking very in-depth at a lot of synthesisers. What are these, what are plugins and other questions are answered in this video.
The most basic of all the synthesisers, but very useful for writing quick melodies.
What is the 3xOSC? It is a basic synthesiser that has been around in FL Studio for many years. Let's take a look at it here.
The FLEX Plugin is a new ROM (Read-Only Memory) Synthesiser that was introduced in the latest version of FL Studio. It is fantastic for creativity, but not so much for sound design. We take a look at its relative strengths and weaknesses here.
Two of the more basic synthesisers in FL Studio.
Another personal favourite of mine, the Minisynth is a fantastic plugin that is very useful for quickly prototyping ideas, and is very versatile too. It can be used on the desktop version of FL Studio as well as its mobile version, so its worth getting to know!
A hugely useful plugin that you will find yourself using regularly. Find out why here.
What is compression? We look at the concept here, and look at a basic example of compression using the Fruity Compressor in this video
The Fruity Delay is a fantastic plugin that is very versatile and very useful, and you will find yourself using it constantly. Let's take a look at it here.
Reverb is an effect you will definitely recognise and will have heard before, if not subconsciously. How do we use it and apply it to our tracks? It's all here
Chorus and flanging are related effects, but different in subtle ways. find out exactly how in this video
A multiband compressor works on the same principle as a normal compressor, but splits up the sound into three separate bands based on frequency.
You will use filters all the time in FL Studio. They come not just in the form of effects plugins, but are also inbuilt into synths.
