Description

In the Backwoods Writer Writing a Novel, you will learn all you need to know about novel writing. This course discusses the parts of a novel, how to manage the headspace of a writer, information about beating writer's block, editing a novel, and using a comma correctly. There is an entire section on writing your first draft, a section on understanding genre from a writing perspective rather than a reader's viewpoint, thoughts on the ethics you might discover as you write, and so much more. Plus, there is a module on the different publication options you will have after your novel is complete -- traditional, hybrid, and indie publication -- and what you need to know about each.

You will find sixteen highly useful, information-packed modules in this course, with supplemental material available to download. Since this course is taught in coordination with the book, The Backwoods Writer, Writing a Novel, and a PDF download of the book is included with the course materials.

Your instructor for this course, Leigh Macfarlane, has a BA in English Literature, a MFA in Creative Writing, and is an author herself. Leigh has published more than twenty books in multiple genres. This course combines the knowledge Leigh has gained through study and through her own hands-on, practical learning as a writer and instructor.
