Team Soundtrack

Team Soundtrack is a simple but powerful team building exercise. Each person sends me their favorite song and the story behind it. This session is a quick overview of the exercise.

Start by emailing your team and asking each person to send you their favorite song, the artist name, and a short note on why it matters to them—only to you, so it stays a surprise.

Collect all the submissions and build a playlist in Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube, making sure each track is cued to a one-minute hook.

Build a clean presentation document or slide deck that lists each song in order, leaving space for guesses and reveals, so you can guide the session smoothly.

Welcome everyone to Team Soundtrack, a team building exercise where we’ll listen to music, guess whose song it is, and learn the stories behind each choice.

Play one minute of each song, encourage singing along, and keep the energy light and fun as the team makes their guesses.

Finish by sharing the complete playlist as your team’s official soundtrack, a lasting reminder of the stories and connections built together.

For large teams, split into smaller groups to create separate playlists, then combine them into a compendium that showcases the entire organization’s soundtrack.

Give everyone a guess card to write down who they think chose each song, then reveal all at the end and crown the person with the most correct guesses as the winner.
