Know that there is a domain called pre-maths that is important for early learners
Children start understanding pre-mathematical concepts at a very early age. Learn what kind of concepts they are able to grasp so that you, as a teacher, can build on their capability.
Are pre-maths skills really important at a young age? Learn how pre-maths skills form the foundation of mathematical learning for later years.
Know the conceptual areas to be taught in the pre-maths curriculum
Learn ways to teach pre-maths skills to young learners in the age group of 3 to 6, with engaging activities, and not just a chalk and blackboard. We also have 16 activities or lesson plans for you to start engaging with your young learners! Just read the instructions, get your everyday materials together and begin!
If you are a teacher of young students, an early childhood educator, teaching children between eh ages of 3 to 6, this short course is for you.
In this course, we will learn what pre-maths skills are, why it is an important domain for us as teachers to address in the early years, what kinds of concepts we should cover and how to teach the pre-maths domain. We will look at the importance of the domain, effective techniques to teach, how to use curriculum, and a few examples of teaching the domain in the classroom as well.
The course is divided into sections to help you:
· Discover at what age children actually start recognising and understanding mathematical concepts.
· Understand why pre-maths skills are important to learn at a young age
· Understand which pre-maths concepts can be taught to the age group 3 to 6
· Be familiar with effective teaching aids to teach pre-maths concepts in the classroom
· Be able to begin teaching pre-maths concepts using an activity-based approach that spans across developmental domains.
Apart from learning about the pre-maths domain, you will also learn about how effective an activity-based approach is to make learning effective. These techniques and examples will also help you in teaching other domains.
