The assignment makes use of your workplace or classroom practice training activities based on a conceptual framework of your choice. The simplicity of the assignment is adapted to age groups that need rapid, tangible results.
For the Youth Worker, the capacity to design activities that respond to the need for directly applicable knowledge, which are short and obtain rapid results, is essential.
In the domains of sustainable development and environmental protection, Youth appreciate concrete education actions that are tailored to their lifestyle, wishes and expectations. The diversity of these domains forces the Youth Worker to be aware of a multitude of subjects and be able to address them in a creative manner rather than searching for ready-to-go plans.
This lecture, along with a list of essential external lectures and with a practice assignment - that is also meaningful on its own - will guide you throughout the hereby learning journey and in daily work.
Youth Workers will understand what sustainable development is about from the psychology standpoint, and how the day-by-day life relates with the sustainability. The basic knowledge of psychology will help the Youth Worker to design the training and education activities with the objective of shaping the beliefs - which is a crucial objective of learning sustainability.
Starting from the path depicted in the video lecture, the Youth Worker is encouraged to read the Handbook of Social Psychology, chapters 1, 4 and 5 - for an overall view on the subject and chapter 11 for a psychological view on the working groups.
Further on, the Youth Worker is encouraged to consult the internet resources selected, to get a view on the theories of learning, up to a specific document about sustainability education.
All this fundamental knowledge will serve at designing the activities professionally, to adapt the structure, length and objectives to the specific of the Youth groups, specifically to Generation Z ones which are diverse.
Assignments simulate real cases. Once solved, the Youth Worker is encouraged to take a second look at the theme and reflect on how the approach will be received by the audience from the psychological perspective
The Youth Worker job is to challenge the minds of audience, to make them reflect and change their own beliefs towards sustainability, along with the social action. To do so, the Youth worker will learn how to master the transformative learning.
The downloadable file about transformative learning applied in a case of environmental protection offers both an insight of the phases of the transformative learning theory - see table at page 2671 and a case study to guide you on the transformative learning approach.
The selected external resources offer examples to study, from the world of Generation Z: digital universe and fashion.
The assignment, based on the lecture and the external resources, will offer the opportunity to creatively use the gathered knowledge and skills for a specific case.
Understanding Life satisfaction ensures the attractiveness of the training activities. The criteria used to define the well-being and the life satisfaction are translated into practical check list for training design. The external internet resources ensure a deeper understanding on the subject.
You will get an insight into the corpus of knowledge about sustainable development. There is a myriad of freely available resources on the internet.

Make a distinction between local, regional and global actions. The basic knowledge will help you to learn how to train youth at local level and adapt to the characteristics of the Youth, using both the core knowledge about sustainable development and the knowledge from previous lectures about psychology, learning theories and sociology/well-being.

The lecture content and the Handbook-attached sum up the substance of the sustainable development. You will gather the essential knowledge about how stakeholder approach to sustainable development. Who is your guide in this unique journey?
Florin Alexandru has 30 years of experience in environmental protection and teaching. He is one of the first Youth Worker after the Romanian Revolution in 1989. He is qualified teacher of Natural Sciences. Furthermore, he used to work as scientific researcher in the Romanian National Institute for Environmental Engineering and many years as European Union policies' adviser.
His team includes Gabriela Staicu, Ecology Professor at the University, and communication expert in more than 10 European Union funded projects and contributors from 6 other European Countries and professor (r) Nicolae Galdean, along with the experts from the GenZ Consortium.
The course is based on the work of European Partners -GenZ Consortium, coordinated by Asociatia Pentru Dezvoltare si Mediu - ADEMED (RO): Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BG), Politeknika Txorierri (SP), linkgroup (SB), Projects in Motion (MT), StepbyStep (HR), and Emphasys Centre (CY).
