The 10 steps to professional surfboard shaping. This course is for the intermediate and advanced shaper that is looking for a proven system of steps that will improve the accuracy, speed and efficiency of their shaping. I have been using this shaping method in a high production, professional environment for over 30 years and it is by far the most accurate, efficient and easiest shaping systems that I have found.
Plan how your shape fits the blank by using tape measurements and a rocker bar, then mark rocker measurements and planned cuts to avoid ruining the blank.
Perfect the rocker and bottom contour. Add concave with a curved sure form blade, feather from center outward, and finish with careful sanding and signing.
Outline the blank with a proven spin template, marking nose and tail for a vertical, symmetric cut. Double-check the center and stringer alignment for accuracy.
Scribe a reference line, bevel the deck rails with a precise first double, then use a digital angle gauge to ensure symmetry, blend the transitions, and finish with light polishing.
Plan precise bottom rail bevels, starting at 34 degrees from the donor board, then add a micro bevel while preserving the outline; copy shape with the soldering wire method.
This course will show and explain the 10 time tested steps to consistent, professional level surfboard shaping. Each step is designed to be finished before moving onto the next step which makes it much easier to understand, remember and reproduce. This time tested system significantly reduces the time it takes to master the art of surfboard shaping.
