You will learn proper form, grip, and downstrokes. The beginning of control, great technical ability and a great sound on the drum kit. Downstrokes teach you how to feel and understand the power of stick rebound. Downstrokes are a pre-requisite for fullstrokes. The correct way to strike the drum for full control and a full sound.
The fullstroke is the very first stroke applicable to music/drum kit playing. A stroke is merely the way we hit the drum. You will also learn how to read music in this lecture, beginning with note values, bars/measures, time signatures, etc. By the end of this lecture you'll be reading and playing a simple rhythmic etude while using your full stroke technique.
Stick control continued! As you learn to properly control your sticks and slowly master the rebound, we will also continue learning new rhythms. After this lecture you'll have all of your stick heights and strokes ready to go, along with understanding the new rhythm, the 8th note triplet.
All 40 drum rudiments are based on these FIVE. After this lecture you'll be ready to get on your drum kit! Don't worry, if you don't have a drum kit yet, you can still participate.
