So you want to study or work abroad eventually and need mentorship to elevate your career? I'm Helen! I help young professionals land teaching jobs abroad so that they can fire their boss, earn an income, and travel the world hassle-free. 10 years ago- I was in the same exact spot as you- spending endless time jobhunting, stressed about college debt, and feeling lost about my life path. It wasn't until I landed teaching opportunities online and abroad, that my lifestyle, work opportunities, and travel horizons truly start to change. In this section- I share more about my personal study abroad experience, including: staying in monastery in East Germany, daytripping through The Netherlands, Belgium, and West Germany, attending Shabbat services weekends at a synagogue and more. Join me for Part II of this Udemy course to learn more.
-Everyone experiences culture shock to some degree. Keeping an openmind and perspective can help you overcome this. When I was in Germany- I had a culture shock when it came to the German academic system- with their 'abitur' class!
What can help you save money on travels?
Rewards credit card, side-hustle, savings account, scholarships. For master's student scholarships- research 'Fulbright' scholarships. I just hosted a workshop at a conference in Berlin summer 2023 for majority of Fulbright scholars and young professionals.
Commonly students study abroad in their 2nd-3rd year for their 4-year program. However, if you choose to study abroad for your master's- you could potentially be 'studying abroad' or living abroad 2-3 years easily. Speak with your academic advisor to understand what is most compatible with your degree plan. If you are a bachelor's student in an International Studies/Tourism/Language major- I always say it's good to study abroad in your undergrad years!
Most popular study abroad location?
-UK! But watch my part II course to manage expenses, cost of living expectations, and money planning.
